When did they take the fun out of watching ski jumping?

Now the jumpers ski down a track built into the slope. Not much chance of a nasty crash.

Yeah , it used to be more intimidating looking down that narrow wooden track.
The poor guy from Slovenia who crashed off the end of the jump , was used by Wide World of Sports to illustrate the agony of defeat .
