I had a middle school teacher who was in the band at Texas Tech. She said that they always closed the show with the double T. At the last game of the year, playing their rival at the rival's stadium (don't remember who), each band member carried rye grass seeds in a pouch. They closed the show with the double T, knelt down, and poured the seeds out. Bet that surprised the grounds crew a couple of weeks later.
They need to march that band around Lubbock, continuously for about 30 years. The towns surrounding Lubbock have names like, Plainview, Levelland and Brownfield. I believe Lubbock is an Apache word meaning “blowing dirt”.
