Sentence Structure Does Matter

These jewels were found in several of our newspapers. I don't know if the writers passed the English exam.
1. "Man kills wife with Alzheimers". Thank goodness, he didn't use a gun. Further along in the article. "Caulfield admitted he killed his wife in the note". That's an odd place for a murder.
2. "R.L. Webb, 65, of Delta Drive, was denied bond on charges of murder and first-degree burglary at Oconee County Courthouse". If one is going to do a dastardly deed, do it at the courthouse.
3. "Tim Tebow drills fan in the crotch with ball in warm-ups. Later autographs it". What did he autograph?
4. "Lewis hit the victim with a shoe on the top of her head". What was she doing with a shoe on the top of her head?
5. re a Clemson baseball commit. "...... he has committed to play for the Tigers on Saturday". How about those Friday, Sunday and week day games?
6. "...... announced the company's decision to build its North American headquarters in Pickens County on Tuesday". That's going to be a busy Tuesday because it includes the construction of a 50,000 square foot building.

Ah, finally. Someone who recognizes a misplaced modifier. And punctuation.
Many of the pieces on TN make it unable for a writer to finish reading.
They lose me at:
Coach Swinney said it's going to be a great season. "It's going to be a great season," Swinney said.
You already told me that.
A diversified portfolio and discipline is what these players need after college. "What they need is discipline and a diversified portfolio," Venables said.
What did they need again? I'm too stupid to remember?
Dabo Swinney, the Clemson head coach, said November is the month where it counts. "We go all year with rankings and stuff and all that's fun," he said. "But November is where it counts."
I need telling twice because....???
Do I have room to talk? You betcha. Most decorated writer in the Lowcountry.

I am so thankful for my Clemson English 101 class. Small classes of about 20 students. The entire English department taught a section, from the GAs to the Dean. Every student had to master witting a sentence before the class could move on to writing a paragraph. Then on to 3 paragraphs, one page, two pages. Also, grading was brutal. However, it prepared me so well for the rest of my life.
I remember one professor had a poster on the wall,
"So, whatcha think?" Hamlet. Act III, Scene I. first draft

I never said you looked funny. I never said you looked funny. I never said you looked funny. I never said you looked funny. I never said you looked funny. I never said you looked funny.
Maybe it's hard to emphasize the right word.
