SEC Network playing up Auburn D after they beat

Sep 2, 2017, 11:00 PM

Georgia Southern 41-7. Said the held them to 7 first down and only 54 yards the whole game? Going to be a showdown on Saturday night that might be like the epic Clemson-UGA games from the 80's. Go Tigers!!!!

no doubt it will be a good game

Auburn' s offense will be much improved.

With that said, their D isn't near as good as last year.

Going to be a dog fight for sure.

D is a good bit better than last year.

You do realize this isn't the Auburn cheering section, don't you? Your act has grown progressively annoying since you first popped on the scene. Granted, you'll blame it on Clemson fans disrespecting your program...that should be the first ones you ignore. Instead, you engage and inflame.

If Auburn is better than last year, then why wouldn't GaSouthern not be a worse team? What they did versus Bama is completely irrelevant...it was a couple years ago. Regardless, the 1st team D stayed in until the 4th quarter? So they can prep to stop Clemson's option game? OK...then...

Holding GaSouthern to 78 total yards is pretty...

That's like saying they held the citadel to 50 yards. Not that impressive

It is impressive. I was there tonight. We all play cupcakes at least once or twice a year. GA So, Kent State, Citadel, AL St etc.

In 30 years, I've never seen a D be so dominant (Figuratively/Stastically)
I was a little nervous about the triple option. This team put up 21 points on Bama (in a year they won the NC) a few years ago.

Their QB was fast as Hayul. 1st team D finally came out in the 4th & they only had 23 yds. 0 3rd down conversions etc

I was glad we got to see a very athletic QB going into the Clemson game.

Yeah we both played bad teams ... but you can still see the writing on the wall. We our D would be better than last year's.

Y'all played a crap team to, but Kelly exceeded my expectations throwing the ball.

We only let ran 7 plays tonight with several different formations. Pettway & our top WR were held out as well.

Next Sat is going to be a hell of a game ...

Lol, you are basing your dominant d on a performance against a triple option team that couldn't throw a forward pass?? I hope Auburn turns it over three times Saturday night, it will be ugly if that's the case.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

To be fair

Sep 3, 2017, 8:34 AM

We played a team that couldn't throw a forward pass either.

Yeah, the difference is I'm not on here bragging about how our d is so much better based on this performance. I thought we played well, but you can't really base anything on a performance against a team that decided to not throw a pass until the 3rd quarter.

You are becoming an annoyance with your selective factoids. Georgia Southern had to replace not just its QB but its OC as well, along with every receiver who caught more than two passes last year. In other words - Southern replaces basically its entire brain trust plus anybody who caught or threw a forward pass last year. Which meant they were never going to be able to throw the football even remotely and you guys could literally play 10 in the box. Wide Receiver U is a somewhat different proposition. Try that again. Please.

Georgia Southern also returned just two guys from its front seven, and had to replace its entire LB corps...and this from a unit that already gave up 400+ yards a game last year. Of course you guys obliterated them up front with your run scheme.

So basically you caught a Sun Belt team in full-on rebuild mode at the most critical positions - QB and the D-line, and you ran at will on them, and managed to put all of 41 points up on them. Bravo.

Go away, Iraqi Info Minister.
