Dabo to Auburn and Chad Takes Over?

Posted: Nov 26, 2012 4:15 PM

Auburn seems to be a dodgy job right now.........but a potentially great SEC job. Dabo is from Alabama (and a UA grad)....I just wonder if AU would consider Dabo and if they did, would he take the job? I don't think so, but who knows?

Thoughts?

No one is going to hire Dabo Swinney as their head coach right now.

I certainly hope not.

I believe Dabo is committed to Clemson and Clemson is committed to Dabo.

It's odd that he's won 9+ games the last 3 years and no one is looking at him....

Even more odd that no one is considering SOS.***

You are kidding right. Look man, I bleed orange but I would take Spurrier in a second

And yet he hasn't been offered any other jobs since he has been at usc.

I'm not saying he is not a good coach. I'm just pointing out that there are other reasons why no one is looking to hire him OR Dabo. It probably has something to do with THEIR interest (or lack there of) in moving to another job.

The two situations hardly relate***

They relate very well.

If school A has an opening and they put out back door feelers (which always happens) to a current head coach and the coach quietly says no thanks, then you will not see school A make a play for that coach.

It is known that SC will be his last coaching stop***

My point exactly. It is also known that Dabo LOVES Clemson

and has no interest in other jobs.

You are naive if you really believe that***

I'm 51 years old. I've been successful in the business world for many years. I've been called a lot, but never naive.

Good point.

Re: Dabo to Auburn and Chad Takes Over?

It will never happen

Would Auburn hire a Bama alum?

Posted: Nov 26, 2012 4:25 PM

Would a Bama alum leave Clemson for Auburn?

No. And a Bama alum would not take AU job. Never happen. Not with Dabo anyway.

At this pt I think Auburn would hire anyone if they could

Bama alum to fix it doesn't quite sound like what they'd be looking for.

Further, I get the sense that Dabo is looking for a career as a Clemson coach, not as a "Mr. Fixit" for ailing programs.

So no...I can't imagine Dabo going to Auburn.

I also can't imagine them wanting to hire him

Posted: Nov 26, 2012 4:31 PM

not based on his diploma but simply not feeling he's a good fit. If you can't beat Spur how are you going to beat Saban???

several "larger" programs in need of a coach and the Clemson

coach is 10-2 and no one is looking at him. What does that say?

It says that Clemson isn't a $*@& stepping stone.

Posted: Nov 26, 2012 4:39 PM

Why do people think that Clemson loses their coaches? We're Clemson, for God's sake. How many coaches have jumped ship from Clemson without us wanting them to?

Why aren't people looking at Saban? He's doing well at Bama.

I can't believe how badly some of you are buying into this inferiority issue. The ACC sucks right now. That doesn't mean that it always will and that sure as heck doesn't mean that Clemson does.

They want no part of Dabo. ****

I'm sure Auburn will consult with you before they hire someone. I bet you've never played one single down of football.

Auburn will get big name, not Dabo!!

Posted: Nov 26, 2012 4:37 PM

A program of that stature will go after the big dogs, not Dabo and if what they say is true about Allburn then he doesnt want to go there anyway.

The thought of us firing Dabo now sounds crazy after a 10 win season but every angle has to be looked at. Recruiting has been better
Player development, not so good
Improvement season to season, yes
ACC record improvement, yes
Big Wins against elite competition, not so good

Just like Chizik***

a head coach.

Re: Dabo to Auburn and Chad Takes Over?

Dabo needs to stay.... He is a great recruiter and has more benefits. Just because he loses to South Carolina doesn't mean the world is going to end.

Re: If he loses to them again, it certainly should be over

for him.

he will have to lose 4 more at least in a row to get canned***

Well, if he doesn't have us prepared for the bowl game like last year I am sure that there will be talks of replacement.

Re: Dabo to Auburn and Chad Takes Over?

Dabo would assume go back to real estate than coach Auburn. He went to Bama. Nothing against Auburn but that would be like a Clemson grad coaching at SCar. Its like spitting in your own schools face.
