professional sports leagues to be able to use their platforms to advertise and recruit for the military for half a century. There never would have been a controversy about kneeling for the national anthem if the military hadn't paid to have the national anthem played in the first place. Sports leagues didn't just organically "have" the national anthem because they're so goshdarned patriotic.
