Measurable goal for ACC Coastal: build a better program than Pitt.

Is that so much to ask??

Hopefully Mack will lead the charge.

Geez.

Nothing last forever, so enjoy Clemson’s long run of success, because it could end with the rise of another ACC power.

Pitt is quietly actually pretty good.

They throw well, and their QB, Cody Pickett, has some mobility. They have some decent wideouts including a couple who can stretch the field, and they certainly have some decent running backs. They're rugged up front on both lines of scrimmage and their DL is anchored by a guy who's at least close to being as good as Aaron Donald was. They're aggressive on D and will stack up, stuff the run, and come after you, and force an opposing QB to stand in and deliver down the field.

Truthfully, they deserve a better venue than playing second fiddle in a 3/4's empty NFL stadium, and they similarly deserve a better fan base than what they have.

They're a lot more solid as a program than, say, the Gamecocks. They're well-coached, their sideline and personal comport seems pretty solid, and you don't see any of those telltale signs of lack of discipline or lack of team spirit; the kids are bought into the program and Narduzzi definitely seems in command.

Give them a more enthusiastic fan base that attracts recruits and I think you'd see a fairly consistent Top-25 program; as it is they're close.

Sorry, make that "Kenny" Pickett, not Cody. Apologies.

Great assessments as always, @quozzel.

It’s fascinating that Narduzzi has maintained such a competitive edge in the ACC thus far with such a general emphasis on facilities, fan support, etc. driving recruiting conversations. Their home games are pitifully unspirited and conducted in an oversized rental space, yet they have attracted/developed the likes of Pickett and skilled linemen, to their credit.

You would think more passionate, established, tradition-steeped programs with big donor bases and great facilities would consistently translate to sustained success...not always the case, obviously...

When you watch their games, you’re tempted to think they don’t have any…
