Monte Lee in at Clemson

Rumors in Charleston through the CofC coaching staff that Monte Lee is heading up to Clemson to "sign some papers" to become new head coach. Buddy at work knows assistant coach at CofC. The coaching staff was told, and they are looking into promoting the pitching coach.

Well you don't know anything about college baseball if that is the case. He is the one who built the foundation of the SC program that won 2 national championships! Tanner got the credit but SC did not do crap until Monte got there. Best possible hire is Monte Lee!

You will be. Monte Lee will recruit the state of SC very well an will not get beat by programs that have whipped us the last few years with in state talent.

Too much internet guru noise in this thread. Maybe when those that assume can offer some stats or facts over their "I like Monte" feelings we could possibly talk about reality, that Monte is not heralded by coaches outside of his staff and the few cofc homers.
There are also coots lurking here pumping Lee, that's all you should need to know.

It was a bold move. Coach Leggett takes us to regionals 21 of 22 years. If we have a coach do that and DRad removes him, he better bring in someone better. I don't think a midmajor is better. Remember what Drad said, "we can do better". So he better do it well.

Jack is not producing on game day.he has gotten out coached. Monty Lee has not & will not at Clemson. I do worry about the talent level left. This should have happened last year and the new coach would be in better shape

What was it, 2 coaches over the last 56 years? Hire Monte and it could be 4 in 60 in a few years. Look at the years his, much like Jack's, top assistant was there...all you Internet gurus might realize that Matt Heath has made Monte relevant at cofc. That's why Monte needs him to come with if he gets the job.
See the years Jack had his top assistants for reference.

I disagree, monte Lee will be successful, Heath or not, he is a great coach. We cannot base his success on Heath, I believe that the two together are unstoppable, but alone they are great. However, there is a reason Lee is the head coach.

Possible, but a bit unlikely at this point. I'd just about bet that Monte and his staff, like most SC coaches, were in Columbia all day today for the Diamond Prospects showcase.

I would like to see many more interviewed including 1 or 2 currently in CWS. Hiring Lee would appear to be a SC politically correct and expedient move to make in the short term but mark my words, would be a short-term hire at best - cannot recruit top players on a national scale, and that is what is needed in today's marketplace! And besides, what's the hurry? Is RDad going on vacation this weekend????

Wrong again. Monte's plan is to bring Heath with him. But, Heath has interest from a couple of SEC schools who want him to be their pitching coach. He will come with Monte IF Radakovich will pay him SEC money, which is a LOT more than they were paying Pepicelli.
This will all work out just fine if Radakovich does not cheap out.
