Now that's cold (Spurrier)

Feb 5, 2014, 9:39 PM

A coot friend of mine (yes, I have coot friends) told me tonight that he happened to have box seats for some country concert in Columbia recently. As he was headed to his seat, he saw Spurrier right outside the box next to his. My bud was thrilled to see his Almighty, and excitedly said "Go #####!" and asked the Almighty for his autograph. Not kidding: Spurrier looked at him and said "no, I'm good". Cold.

For you house coots, I swear this is true, and it came from one of your own. How... Just how can they sell their souls for such as this? What a jerk! Glad he's not ours.

A few years back

Feb 5, 2014, 9:47 PM

My buddy had ring side seats to WWE Raw and asked me if I wanted to go. I had nothing better to do so I went (yes I know it's fake! Honestly not a fan, just went because!). Anyways, we ended up getting pushed back to the 2nd row because a "big guest" was coming and wanted to be front row. The row was completely empty until about 5 matches or so and they went to commercial. During the commercial they announced that Rick Flair would be coming next and low and behold Ole Slurrier came out and plopped his old ### right in front of me! I'm wearing a Clemson hoodie and he just looks at me and smirked. My buddy is a coot fan and said " Hey, Spurrier" and I #### you not he turned and looked at him and said "mind your business and shut the #### up!" I could have fell out of the chair laughing!!!!

You just can't make this stuff up. I think he hates it there, just as a bright person should, but he makes a lot of money, and he doesn't need to deliver much in return. He is just that low class, and he really has found a home.

The OBS is such a classless D1CK, but the COOTS continue to clamor back like a bunch of lost sheep and choose to worship a total A$$, you can keep 'em Coots!!!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That really surprises me.

Feb 5, 2014, 9:50 PM

I figured he wouldn't have been that nice.

Feb 5, 2014, 10:08 PM

I too have a coot friend and he said he and his family were in Charlestown a couple of years ago eating dinner and Spurrier had all his coaches down there for a retreat. He has two young sons and never approached the coaches table. Spurrier was walking by and saw both kids have Gamecock hats on and sat down with them for 15 minutes and chatted with the entire family. He was telling the boys to send him their film when they get to HS and they were eating it up. I am sure there are stories that goe both ways for every coach, but my coot buddy said he was the nicest guy in the world.

My third cousin's former boy friend saw slurrier at a car wash. Being a coot, he offered to wash the ole ball sack's car, and that over-the-hill has been said, "Beat you homeless bum."

Feb 5, 2014, 10:16 PM

I honestly will never understand why an adult would bother a football coach at a concert or in any other part of life for an autograph.

He's our freaking football coach. He's not our best friend.

The issue is that he's the HC of a program that I'm going to assume that you lovers of #### in fact love. For your HC to be condescending to the people that support his team is a proverbial slap to the face. He could have played this one out a lot differently. As we've seen though, he's not really a nice guy even to those that adore him for some reason. Don't want the fame and glory? Go coach at a Div III school or try not coaching at all.

I'm glad he's your coach. I cannot imagine Dabo ever being that way. He would be run out of town on a rail, covered in feathers. Ya'll are so starved for someone who can win that you are accepting him at any cost.

All I can say is a coach needs to be a representation of your school, your alumni and your players. I do believe yours fits......

Spurrier's name has come up a couple times in past Clemson coaching searches, and by and large the response here was a resounding HELL NO.

I don't hate Spurrier because he's the head coach at SCar. I hated him long before that. He's an enormous d0uchebag and I look forward to the day he's no longer a name in the college football world.

to just donate to charity (and that is a tax write-off, and you know he uses those, everybody does). why make the charities spend the time and effort to make use of his "signature donations" by selling/auctioning them before they have access to the $. i think you could have came up with a better excuse for your highness.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

thats not entirely true

Feb 6, 2014, 8:14 AM [ in reply to Re: Now that's cold (Spurrier) ]

without giving any names, we were organizing a charity event and were getting autographed things for a silent auction that would be a part of that event. All we had to do is call Clemson, and the athletic department was overwhelmingly cooperative and said just let us know what you want signed and by whom and they sent it to us. Now the coots, we even had a former player call for us and we were given the run around and were told by Lord Slurrier's secretary that he wouldnt be able to accommodate our request. Their athletic department did offer autographed items by the track coach and soccer coach.

Feb 6, 2014, 12:18 AM

teams that played Clemson. Most coaches would sign a few autographs in the lobby for kids and fans. Some, like Chuck Amato, would spend an hour or two signing, taking pictures, and mingling with fans.

Not only would Spurrier not do that, South Carolina put into their contract with the hotel that not only could no fans approach Spurrier while walking through the hotel, the hotel employees were to escort any fan approaching Spurrier out of the hotel or face breach of contract. It was really ridiculous!

Also, Spurrier required 2 beds b/c he has the "jimmy legs" lol.

A football coach being an a-hole is not a new personality trait in football coaches. Saban is known to be a huge jerk in certain situations but I guess the crowd on here would not have him as head coach if the job were available.

We're talking football here people. If you want a politician, hand-shaker and baby-kisser then Mack Brown is available. Wonder why Mack is available, he excels at the "nice guy" stuff.
