Can we please stop giving this crap an article. FPI doesn't mean a thing. Just something for ESPN to talk about. Do we have to talk about it too?
Just because it is wrong and stupid doesn't mean we need to talk about it. (yes I know I am talking about it)

Lack there of, when it comes to credibility. I needed a little comedy, and leave it up to these rankings morons to provide some levity.

True.

As the results of games played replaces the preseason polls and the margin of victory and other touchy-feeley metrics the FPI migrates toward useful. Yet previous to the final playoff game the flavor of the preseason polls and margin of victory remains.

Let them play games with their formulas.

The playoff committee and anybody who knows anything about football would disagree with them at this point. If we see them in the postseason we will physically abuse them for four quarters AGAIN.

We'd better keep our starters in the whole game and start blowing teams out, or we can forget about the fpi championship trophy.

I'm so sick of Clemson fans thinking they are better than Ohio St. So, what if they beat OSU less than a year ago 31-0. So what that the Bucks have a lost on their resume. They are just better. They put up like 60 on Maryland. Who has Clemson beat??? 3 top 15 teams for the first time ever in the month of September. Who cares? Ohio St. has more National championships in their sock draw than Clemson will ever have. And furthermore they play in the Big Ten. The greatest Conference known to mankind, behind the SEC. I keep waiting for someone on ESPN to ask "Now what was that score last year between Clemson and Ohio St, was it 31-0? And then, "has Ohio St gotten a lot better and Clemson a lot worse? Let's address that." Haven't heard any mention of 31-0. Gotta protect that Big 10.

FPI has a point....
Oct 9, 2017, 1:02 PM

1st: FPI is stupid
But the FPI trying to predict the final ranking at the end of the season.
We are clearly better than than OSU but they have a way easier path to an undefeated regular season. The Big10 is a joke and I think the FPI is taking that into account.

The score above or below an exact average team. The FPI predicts that O31O st would beat an average team by a couple more points than we would. So by applying the transititive property of football, which we all use, they will beat us by a couple of points

They're ahead of us in S&P+ (#1 now actually) too

Computer metrics love teams that run up the score, and OSU has blown the doors off some bad to mediocre teams in the weeks after their loss to OU.
The thing with OSU isn't whether or not they are good enough to destroy middling teams though - they've proven numerous times they can do that - it's whether or not JT Barrett and that passing game can do anything against a good team with a good defense. They failed to do that in a loss to PSU last year. They failed to do it in an ugly (and pretty lucky) win against Michigan. They failed to do it in the 31-0 humiliation against Clemson. And they failed to do it yet again against OU this year.
In summary, OSU in 1-3 (with 1 pretty lucky OT win) in their last 4 games against good teams that could actually force them to have to throw the ball. Let's see what their offense does against Penn State and Michigan (or even Michigan State who has given them a good bit of trouble recently) before we change the narrative on Ohio State. They need to prove they can win big games again.

Not that it matters but ESPN will always defer to the SEC and BIG 10 schools due to contracts and potential alumni & state audience size. This rating is meaningless. Except when ESucPeeN carries the Tigers, they are irrelevant.

Unequivocally believe that we should be ranked #1 overall , #1 in every poll and in these metric ranking blurbs . We have played the more difficult schedule , we're the undefeated national champions and we haven't come close to being handled by any of our 1st 6 opponents . Ohio State ? C'mon man.
