Eff this ACA and the d!cks who voted for it....

Fully compliant ACA plan from my employer:
2013 Premiums for a family plan were $13,440.
New rates for the exact same tier of coverage:
$20,352.
51% increase and effectively erases my $5k raise plus reduces take-home pay below pre-raise level.
All the plans and companies we shopped ($1500 deduct/80%) were within $1k of each other.

Yes, deducts and out-of-pockets are the same.

BCBS explaining that they will be returning money due to ACA limits on how much they can make.
At first glance, many people would think this a good thing but the obvious consequence is that the insurance companies don't have to compete anymore and with fixed prices, there will be a shortage. Indeed, there already are.

For both health and car insurance. You don't need to predict the consequences of capping insurance company profits because you can simply look at companies in states that already do it.

Do you work for a small company with a young staff?

Obamacare stipulates that insurance companies can't consider an individual's health when establishing plan prices. That helps older people and hurts younger ones.

20 employees and I'd guess the average age for the company is late 30's.

This poster is probably immutable and just wants to rant. He will probably never see the light, ACA will persevere such, and with some improvements will benefit many people who formerly had no health insurance.

I'm not sure if the firm pays on a per-employee basis, or as a lump sum based on a certain range of number of employees. You can still look at that as a premium for me in particular, of course, but the number would vary as employees come and go.

we shopped to United Healthcare and got lucky that they had just lost the contract for the state of GA. We were able to keep premiums roughly the same but our co-pays doubled and deductibles went up and that's doing a partial self-insured plan.
Every employer I"ve talked to in our area had similar experiences.

My coverage was still $0 because my company believes in taking care of its people even thought our government doesn't (or rather certain groups prevent it)
