These Arkansas fans

Jun 10, 2018, 6:20 PM

Really really get into baseball. They are acting like I was on the final drive when we beat Bama

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

12,000 plus fans and they were tailgating 5 hours

Jun 10, 2018, 6:42 PM

Before the game.

And we think we take baseball seriously

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

In fairness

Jun 10, 2018, 6:58 PM

I'm not sure anybody takes baseball "seriously".

Moreso a product of a complete lack of success in other programs.

When your football and basketball programs are awful, people tend to suddenly become huge baseball enthusiasts.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I wouldn't call their basketball and football

Jun 10, 2018, 7:06 PM

programs "awful". They have a basketball national title and have been a tournament team recently. Football was making the BCS not that long ago.

also LSU takes baseball very seriously despite their football success.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah, that's not really true.

Jun 10, 2018, 7:09 PM [ in reply to In fairness ]

LSU fans seem to care

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Not sure I follow

Jun 10, 2018, 7:29 PM

Has LSU basketball been playing at a high level lately and I just wasn't aware?

When is the last time they won the Natty in football? Won the SEC?

I honestly can't remember off the top of my head.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

are you trying to suggest that LSU baseball

Jun 10, 2018, 7:52 PM

support is a new thing? It's been huge at LSU since the 80s

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So what are the rules for your theory that you made up?

Jun 10, 2018, 9:51 PM [ in reply to Not sure I follow ]

What schools are included in your list that can't care about baseball because they are defecient in football and basketball?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Not sure I follow

Jun 10, 2018, 11:08 PM [ in reply to Not sure I follow ]

They fired their coach last year and got will wade. That's a no.

Jun 10, 2018, 7:21 PM [ in reply to In fairness ]

then why is omaha stitched on the back of our hats....i take it seriously and so do alot of other people

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well...yeah?

Jun 10, 2018, 7:34 PM

It's not exactly a revelation that the members of the team itself care about the sport.

The rest of us? Not so much.

I guarantee if you asked the casual baseball fan who won the national championship last year they would still have to Google it.

I actually played baseball in college, but it's just unbelievably boring and uneventful to watch.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Can you name the last 5 Stanley Cup winners?

Jun 10, 2018, 10:08 PM

Is that your requirement to determine if anyone cares about the sport besides players and parents?

Where do you draw the line?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There are exceptions to every rule

Jun 10, 2018, 10:23 PM

But no, baseball is a distant DISTANT third to football and basketball in this country. Hell, maybe even fourth with soccer's increasing domestic popularity.

Anybody arguing to the contrary I would assume is a fan of a University with generally unsuccessful football and basketball programs.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: There are exceptions to every rule

Jun 10, 2018, 10:27 PM

You need a clue

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Nobody said baseball is more popular than any sport

Jun 10, 2018, 10:30 PM [ in reply to There are exceptions to every rule ]

That has nothing to do with "taking a sport seriously"

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: There are exceptions to every rule

Jun 11, 2018, 9:55 AM [ in reply to There are exceptions to every rule ]

This is just an awful take. Plenty of people love watching their team play baseball. Florida won last year and also went to the elite 8 in basketball and have always been good at football. The south especially takes baseball seriously, and idk if youre just being a bad fan or what, but the sport isnt a joke just because you find it boring.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think the argument should be ...

Jun 10, 2018, 10:06 PM [ in reply to In fairness ]

Most of the nation doesn’t care about college baseball. Most of your average sports fans don’t care about college baseball like most of the nation does care about college football and basketball especially come tournament time. Only your hardcore college fans (mostly in the south) are watching this baseball tournament.

Or Wimmins Basketball becomes one of the top sports!

Jun 10, 2018, 11:07 PM [ in reply to In fairness ]

Lsu takes baseball seriously. I've never seen anything like it.

2024 student level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Any school with Arkansas' recent football history...

Jun 10, 2018, 7:11 PM

would react as they do now to baseball. If they are putting their hope in Chad Morris they are in for a rude awakening when he starts interviewing before the season is over. That's if he doesn't take another job before this season starts.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpgringofhonor-clemsontiger1988-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What else is there to do in Arkansas?

Jun 10, 2018, 7:21 PM

Probably not much. Not a destination location for anyone. Might as well watch baseball.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Don't tell certain members of TNET that

Jun 10, 2018, 7:42 PM

They will pull out a straw man argument or insist on the importance of the sport, despite being unable to remember who won last year's national championship.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Don't tell certain members of TNET that

Jun 10, 2018, 8:01 PM

It's baseball season and I take it seriously. When it's over I will somewhat follow baseball recruiting.
I follow Tiger football closely year round and and am dead serious about it. There's definitely a pretty big difference.
You are right to a degree in my opinion.
I really like baseball but I truly love football. But that's just me.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

stop with that reply

Jun 10, 2018, 7:51 PM [ in reply to What else is there to do in Arkansas? ]

you realize people from other parts of the country say that about Clemson right? Whenever someone wants to make fun of great fan support they go to the dumb "nothing to do there" argument.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's pretty ignorant

Jun 10, 2018, 10:11 PM [ in reply to What else is there to do in Arkansas? ]

Support for college football in the south is very unusual to most people in the country.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Check the ratings bro

Jun 10, 2018, 10:27 PM

Doesn't matter what region of the U.S. you live in. Americans don't give a #### about baseball relative to football and basketball.

Quite a coincidence how much you love baseball considering it is the only sport your University can remain even somewhat competitive in.

Hilarious.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't love it more than football, but your logic is terrible

Jun 10, 2018, 10:31 PM

And everyone on here is aware of it

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What exactly are the rules for this theory of yours?

Jun 10, 2018, 11:40 PM

Cuz it looks like not much of anyone agrees with much of anything you've said...ever.

Curious as to what would be a good indicator that your life is a series of pathetic and embarrassing decisions. 38%?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So you're going with that as a response?

Jun 11, 2018, 1:15 AM

When you just quit discussing your bizarre opinion that fans can't take more than one sport seriously, I take it you probably didn't think it through very well.

Oh, well. I just like seeing people try to defend their position until they start attacking the person challenging their opinion. Really telling usually.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You're up to 40% approval!

Jun 11, 2018, 1:46 AM

Straight crushing it bro.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: That's pretty ignorant

Jun 11, 2018, 12:18 AM [ in reply to That's pretty ignorant ]

Support for college football in the south is very unusual to most people in the country.

I agree. I’ve lived in 5 large cities from San Francisco to Pittsburgh, most recently in Chicago. Absolutely no one I met in any of those cities had any interest in college football or any other college sport.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yep. I live in Southern California

Jun 11, 2018, 1:21 AM

It is very different. It's good people have so many interests, but I miss the excitement and interest that is normal in the south. They don't understand it, but it doesn't make me care less.
