up with Clemson sports. Heck, I might just start going to Georgia games at that point since I live in Atlanta. It would be like Clemson completely in the Big East or Conference USA.

The big east isn't dissovled

Losing 7 of their 20 teams probably helps them more than anything. Especially considering that those catholic schools have little in common with the football playing members.

They only have 10 schools right now. The catholic schools have the majority vote to dissolve the conference if that is the direction they choose to go in. I don't see how them leaving helps the remaining teams because all that is left is a collection of Conference USA teams that are mediocre in both football and basketball.

If that happens and we do not leave for the Big 12 I will honestly give up on our current administration.
Seriously. As a football fan and just a semi competent human being why in the world would you want either of those 2. You don't just add schools to add schools.
If Cincy and UCONN are added that will be the last nail in the coffin for the ACC because FSU will be gone and CU will be right after them

I'm not big on the ACC expanding beyond the East Coast, but I understand the interest in improving the conferences' football programs.
Having said that, I think UCONN & Georgetown add great academic institutions, are good fits (based on geography) and would add elite basketball programs.

I love the addition (although partial at the moment) of Notre Dame's football program to the ACC, but I think they are a better fit for the Big 10. (considering South Bend is in the heart of the Mid West)
I feel the same way about Louisville. (and their basketball program) I think they bring a great basketball program, (to what was already the premiere college basketball conference) but I would prefer the conferences were created based on regional geography.
The current trend of conference expansion is good (financially) for those that make money within the Universities, but not for alumni & fans.

Are you trying to insure the ACC dies?
The last thing this conference needs is more Big East castaways. Good God, man. Out of 14 teams, 6 of them are old Big East teams.
I didn't mind it when we were at 12 teams. Adding VT & Miami made sense in many ways. But everything since then has been awful.

isn't the next spot sort of SAVED for ND by virtue of their contract ? I'm sure they also have 100% say in who comes with them.Looking at the map, Cincy would be the logical choice, but ND could demand Navy. Otherwise, until ND's contract is up(they go somewhere else), the ACC will not expand further unless teams start bolting.
I doubt they'd get lucky enough for a chit team to leave and replace them with a better team. UMD being replaced by UofL was an upgrade. I doubt another situation like that will fall in their laps again.

Just looking at that map makes me think the Big 12 is about to pounce. Look at FSU, GT, CU, and VT. That is the perfect case scenario for a Big 12 Eastern Division. You get into the southeast recruiting area without covering up the same areas.
Cannot believe 4 schools in NC are that close. WF needs to be cut.

I think they are too good of teams at football to play in the ACC. I am not sure they would be willing to go. That would be a step down.

We can't. Now we're held hostage by ND.

The ONLY reason to add ND in all sports but football is to have our foot in the door for football. Unless we think we can expand beyond 16 teams (and...please no), we probably won't take on ANY teams until ND makes a move because we won't want unbalanced conferences, and we certainly won't take two teams and lock ND out (and have 17 basketball programs).
If there is a deal between the ACC and ND...and I mean a solid, legal deal...that ND will join soon for football, I will give Swofford credit for a very strong move. If that does not exist (and I have no reason to believe it does), this is just another boneheaded Swofford move. It could very well have resulted in Rutgers joining the Big 10 knowing that we wouldn't be offering them an invitation any time soon.
