Remedial question: What caused the change

Posted: Oct 9, 2017 11:18 AM

in the size of shoulder pads? In the Ford era they were huge, especially linemen and linebackers, but even many running backs. Now even linemen seem to have a thin shell under the jersey. Was it a technology change, or did players just start to figure they didn't need those huge pads?

Probably better technology...
