I for one am glad you are stopping. You are one of the most ignorant posters ever. You obviously think very highly of your own opinion, unlike the rest of us - RockHillTiger

We do barge transfers between refineries and petroleum tank farms . We also do bunkerings (fueling) on cruise ships , container ships , bulkers , oilers , ATB's and pretty much anything that might require fuel oils .

General consensus

Between myself and other captains I've spoken with is that the captain may have fallen asleep and veered off course , ending up under the rake of a construction barge at that bridge site .
The Tug Specialist is an old Canal tug , meaning it was only 2 decks high in order to accommodate passing under bridges on the Erie Canal without having to request that they raise .
This shortened height may have been the reason she rolled under that rake and sank .
Not sure , all speculation of course and the truth may never be known , barring a miracle scenario where they find the 2 missing crew alive .

But the Specialist is a boat well known in NYC harbor lore .
It's a really sad day for three families , and this hits close to home for everyone in the tugboat community .
Thanks for thinking bout me ...I'm still up here doing what I love .
Everyone stay safe .

Down here, we say keep it between the ditches. In your case, keep it between the bridges.

This is the second tug sinking with men lost in the NYC area in under a year . Tug Sea Bear went down off of Fire Island last winter .
