idk, '69. pep's contract was ending, maybe JL wanted to

reup pep & drad held fast to "no", which is a perfectly good answer?
it's a sad couple of days, but we probably will never know everything that went down, this year or last, that began the ramp up which ended in yesterday's news.
things needed to be better on the field; i don't believe anyone would disagree?

Wrong. Last year Jack was told he had to meet certain

[ in reply to He showed much more class than what was shown him. ] |

He failed to do that. DRad offered him an opportunity to remain HC, but required Jack make staff changes. Jack refused. There is a word for that, it's called "insubordination". When you are already on probation, which Jack was, you do not get to dictate terms and you certainly do not have the right to be insubordinate. Ask yourself this, what would happen to you at work if you were on probation and during your next performance review your boss said that you have to do X, Y, & Z to keep your job and you said "No". Most people would be given a box and escorted to their desk by security and watched as they clean out their desk then immediately get escorted out the building.

Maybe for not firing him last year. Listen, I love the Tiger Baseball Program, but it had slipped, and it wasn't a new thing. Nor was there any really good indicator that Jack had done anything to right the ship. I think JL was a great coach at Clemson in his day, and he took us a long way, but, just like Tommy Bowden, I think he had taken us as far as he was either capable of taking us. It was time to move on. I wish JL the best, but I wish even more for the Tiger Baseball program than JL was able to deliver over the last several years, and it looked like there was no sign of any turn around.

At best a very neutral statement. He clearly takes no responsibility for the current state of the program, for the failures of HIS program during the last few years, and continues to maintain his arrogant attitude. Clemson University can do far better than JL and let us not lose track of the fact that we did not win it all under him. Sure we had some great seasons but we did not win it all under him. I wish him well in his future endeavors but will be shocked if a major program hires him in light of this statement and his failure to take responsibility for his failures.

Thanks to 'Sev for his time at Clemson. What he built here was nothing short of great. Now, it's time for the new hire to take a solid base and turn it into the baseball factory we know that Clemson has been, and can be again. Go Tigers

I think emotions are pretty raw. For him to make a statement at all, still supporting Clemson, should be a sign that while he might not have went like some hoped with bowing out, he still didn't fan the flames

that nearly nobody else in any other program at Clemson has reached. And he is even a better person than a baseball coach. I will miss him at Clemson.
That said, I look forward to what I believe is a bright future in Clemson baseball.
