What is success for Brownell next year?
Mar 21, 2017, 7:56 AM

Getting to the dance? Winning how many games? Beating USUC? Winning at UNC?
What would make the tnetters happy if Brownell could accomplish it?
After reading all of the posts... i'm not sure what would be considered a successful season for him as a coach.
I guess I'm asking...where is the bar set?
Cause whether we like it or not, he's the coach next year.
I personally was looking for a change, but you can't always get what you want.
I hope DRad has made it very clear to CBB.

Doubt there are any postseason requirements next year.

With Blossomgame, Holmes and Djitte gone, there is very little chance we will be as good.
DRad isn't going to suggest anything specific so you can't hold him to it, but a similar season to this one without too much regression would be acceptable to Dan Radakovich.
More of the same.

Drad has told us it doesn't matter what the fans think.

But, a trip to the NCAA tournament and two wins and a Sweet Sixteen is what he has to do to change my mind about him.

people show up to the regular season games. I think the only way he loses his job next year is if there is no fan support and we are under .500.

Success for BB will be complete apathy from the fan base

And no one caring about his .500 record and not making the tourney again in year 8. He will then feel .....comfortable.

Following through with his assessment that his team "should make the NCAA tourney," and then win at least once. An NIT bid is not acceptable after eight seasons and donors especially need to make it clear that CBB needs to either resign or be fired if he accomplishes anything less. Brownell defined his success at the "prowl and growl" meeting in Columbia as reaching the tournament.
I seriously doubt he can immediately change the culture and even with coaching changes I am not certain he won't have at least one transfer this Spring. Recruiting will get nowhere due to the perceived "lame duck" status and DRad will finally be faced with making an overdue change. Donors and fans alike need to make him accountable throughout this entire year or otherwise we won't attract the caliber of coach we need next year.
Go Tigers!

Don't use profanity at LJ.
Graduate the seniors.
Am I missing anything?
Unless the buyout was renegotiated, these are the only metrics I believe matter at this point.

Losing less games in the final 120 seconds would be a great improvement.

IMHO, whatever the Coots achieve this year in basketball should be the minimum for him to stay.
If they make the Elite Eight, then Brown-L better make the elite eight.
