NFL overtime rule

Oct 1, 2018, 10:54 PM

I hate seeing a tie. Why does the NFL not adopt the college football overtime setup. Maybe push them to the 40 yd line since there kickers are much better than college kickers. It would make overtime more exciting in my opinion.

They definitely need to change the current rules. Winning a coin flip in college football does give you a good advantage, but both teams get an equal opportunity. In the pros, if you win the coin toss, you are in control of your own destiny, score a TD and you win the game.

For the NFL, it's all about controlling TV programming and game time. This was true in college football as well, when we used to have the never ending OT games, until they adjusted the rules with the 2 pt conversions. College football made the right adjustment, and the NFL has failed.

I agree the college rules won't work well in the NFL, but they need to tweek the OT rules, to make it equitable for both teams, and there are no freaking ties. At a minimum they should employ the playoff OT rules to the regular season.
