Yeah I went to a lot of bars last year. I think I squandered about 15k last year drinking out. I saw Lakebum's post about his 5 dollar 15 packs and it made feel more foolish.

Somewhere between $1500 and $3000, probably. I try not to think about it.

I've ratcheted it back recently.
I used to buy the full limits of every sought-after release and chased beers all over town. I was also daily drinking the $4-5/can IPA's.
Now I have a celler(s) with cases of Bourbon County, KBS, Expedition Stout, and a bunch of other top-tier stouts that I can pick and choose from every know and then. I'll usually grab a 4pk of a high-end IPA and a 15pack of a cheep Founders IPA or Sierra Nevada or similar every week or two.
I have to sit crooked with all of the extra cash in my wallet these days.

since the Natty. I've only had 4 drinks (beer) since. Now, it's only been 18 days, but I would normally have had ~3 beers a night (at least M-F...usually more on wknds).
Granted, I'm also trying to rein in spending overall, but alcohol was really the only routine money I spend on myself
That said, i'm going to an even tonight that'll have free booze, and probably heading up to Sierra Nevada on Sunday

Mrs. Tig thinks I spend $15,000.00. I think the truth lies somewhere between those figures.

Being married helps. I am single and head out on the town all of the time. I don't drink at home usually. That jacks the costs of my drinking up. I have slowed down over the last few months though. I also live around a lot of beach front bars and places where the prices are jacked up. Such a waste though.

A lot of people scoff at how much I spend on my boat, but I'm doing my drinking on that boat while they're in a bar paying triple what I am for drinks. I think in the end, we probably come out somewhere the same in per month costs.

Home consumption - somewhere between $150-$200.
Jan 25, 2019, 3:00 PM
|
|
A bottle of wine for most holidays meals (Xmas, Easter, Tgiving) - $35 (we get cheap Fetzer Gewurz every Tgiving, spend more for Xmas & Easter).
A random bottle of wine maybe for the first grilled swordfish of the spring, a special dinner here and there - $30
This past year about 4 6-packs of good beer @ $10-12 per 6. Spaten, Oktoberfest, Bells Two Hearted - $45
A holiday trip to the liquor store for medicinal brandy or bourbon and vodka and ginger beer for Moscow Mules - $30
A trip to the liquor or beer store on the annual beach trip - $40
This is based on what I remember this past year. Total looks to be about $180. Maybe a random drink or two here or there and wine with dinner when out - could maybe push my true total to $300-$350 (I did buy champagne and drinks for my office staff at the holiday party this year).
Thanks for the question. This is too much money on booze. APM will be cutting back in 2019.

never thought about it......my annual tally
Jan 25, 2019, 3:16 PM
|
|
I go to the ABC store once/twice a year and buy the equivalent of:
a quart of Jack quart of clear rum quart of dark rum quart of Grand Marnier quart of something oddball and different to try
just to have around the house to sip on from time to time or if somebody comes over. I have a stockpile of other liquor in the cabinet (scotch, gin, vodka, etc) for guests that I really never drink. I don't drink very much at home to start with.
so that's about $150-200 maybe?
Then I drink about 2 cases of beer a year in bars and restaurants and various circumstances... so maybe $100-150 according to bar prices? Pabst or Bud is just fine for me in social situations; I'm not a dandy who cares what people think about me.
I usually drop $100 on liquor gift boxes around Christmas to give friends. I like when they have stuff packaged with free glasses or flasks.
so total maybe $400? A decent long weekend for some of y'all lushes.
Oh, and one bottle of isopropyl, for cuts and to clean my dogs' ears with That's another $1.

This is quite the opposite. I drink the bottomshelf "p1ss" by choice. I leave the good stuff for everybody else to enjoy, no sense wasting it on me. My palate is shot and has been for years.

I don't keep track of it. That includes food and being semi buzzed and buying friends beers and shots, as well as extreme over tipping so they know my name in 3 bars too. I'm not itemizing.
Figure a hundy or so a weekend (give or take) per month, x 12.

I think I actually spend more because I only drink socially, so I end up paying much more at the bar. I'm doing the whole dry January thing, so it'll be interesting to see how much I save.
Although, I did cheat during my trip to New Orleans last week for the GF's birthday. Spent way too much on food and drink.
