Is there a chance that Clemson could add a softball team

Posted: Feb 19, 2016 2:50 PM

In the near future? I have noticed just about every other team in the state has a program, and according to TV ratings softball is the fastest growing women's sport.

I would rather us add something like women's

You ignorantly used the word ignorant in your previous post.

And I also agree with the mud wrestling.

They should look at adding cooking, ironing, or dishwashing. You know, things women are good at.

Of course nekkid would be good LOL but I doubt that would actually happen.

Think about this.

We could level death valley and build the greatest softball stadium in the country! Then Davis4Heisman can go watch all the softball he wants by himself.

If all the DII and DIII schools can build a field, I bet we could find the money somewhere.

Yes. there's a chance

[1]
Posted: Feb 19, 2016 3:00 PM

Not a big one. IN fact, it's quite minuscule I'd guess.

But an honest answer to your question is there is always the possibility of it occurring.

But, and lets be honest here, it ain't gonna happen. That money has to come from somewhere, and unless someone is sitting on a huge (and I mean huge) donation to make it happen, then that slim chance ain't gonna happen.

I know, right? As if there were megalomaniacs out there who

would donate money to a baseball or softball program and then demand that the stadium be named after them. LOL, that's some fairy tale.

Unlikely. . When they needed another female sport

They added women golf.

There is no need to add another money draining women sport until they add another money draining male sport.

I would think they would bring back the swim team or something.

And they could bring it back with equal parts men and women

therefore nullifying the need for softball. Perfect.

Are you going to fund the new softball stadium?

[1]
Posted: Feb 19, 2016 3:25 PM

Because I'm not. WBB can play in the same arena as MBB. Women's Golf can play on the same course as men's golf. We dropped the swim team because of expense. What makes you think there's a chance of adding a softball team?

I'm okay with having women's sports, just as long as we spend as little money as possible.

No as its my understanding CU would have to build facilities comparable to that for baseball to satisfy Title IX requriements.

Someone would have to get some help and determine where the field would be, how much to make that happen. Where would concessions and restrooms by. Who would build and who would maintain.

UGA put their field out in the middle of nowhere. It was "off campus" until the field was there. I bet there is a pasture for sale somewhere within 10 miles of Clemson.

We should play softball. Every other university I can think of does. 99% of the DII and DIII schools play it. I see no reason we don't.
