with the "Eye Test" we got the better QB out of Jawja with TL. Crazy to think that we will have have better days ahead. Go Tiger!

Fields is a camp creature.
He tests off the charts in agility and speed drills, and he looks great in 7-on-7's, but he seldom took over games in high school the way you would have expected. Instead he'd vanish for stretches...and while he did flash here and the consistency was never something you'd associate with him.
I'm actually not sold Fields even unseats Fromm.

Fields was also playing against the 2 defense. The way Georgia separates teams is #1 O and #2 D vs #2 O vs #1 D

Really hard to tell w/o the QB's ability to run. Both have great arms but physically JF looks the part while TL has some filling out to do. We both got great prospects and only time will tell....certainly can't make the call after a single spring scrimmage.

If uga continues to have the running game they’ve had JF won’t have to be much more than a game manager like most uga qb’s have been. The unique thing he brings that most down there haven’t is is ability to run. With the easy schedule uga has right now he should get some pt this year if they don’t put the rs on him. TL on the other hand will likely take the starting roll at Clemson this year by game 4.

You can make some calls after 1 spring if you understand football. Can you manipulate safeties with your eyes, can you feel pocket pressure and move the pocket, do you know where your check downs are and when to take them, can you accurately throw the deep ball, etc... I watched our spring game and TL checks everyone of those boxes and absolutely doesn’t look like a Freshman.
I didn’t see UGA spring game but based on Mutts analysis you can’t judge bc he couldn’t run I’m assuming we got the better prospect. Similar to KB, maybe JF could do better if he could run but seems JF and KB are similar...

This not 'Running'
Apr 24, 2018, 11:03 AM

Is a lame excuse. Running was allowed, but to do so effectively, the QB needed to think quickly over his options and understand a 'touch' was a tackle. So...in my view, it wasn't running that held QB's back...it was the inability to 'read' and 'think' quickly. It sure didn't seem as though TL and Hunter had any trouble running. Perhaps there were other attributes put on display besides sheer athleticism and dimension, or lack thereof.

I mostly agree with you but I will say that tough running is one of KB’s strengths that was taking away.
I was being a little tongue in cheek for supermuttt comparing Fields level of ability to KB (which I think is an accurate comparison when you look at tape actually in your pads, the way football is actually played). Not a bad comparison for Fields as I think there will be packaged in short yardage where KB absolutely helps us win games. Just not the pure QB talent of a TL which mutt wishes were the case.
