The 2013 season has chance to be special, but don't forget about 2014

The pieces are in place for a special season in 2013, but the Tigers don't lose much to graduation after the season, especially on defense, and could be poised for a run in 2014 as well. Full Story »

sure our D looked decent against lsu..

Posted: May 2, 2013, 11:52 PM

but i will not use that as a judge.lsu offense was far from great.also when we played any decent offense with a decent qb last year the defense showed how bad they were.see the nc state game.im not going to get my hopes up thinking undefeated this year.chance to win conference title yes.but until the defense finally shows me something no way we go undefeated

Our D didn't start to jell until the last game. BV said that they looked good in the LSU game. But they made bigger strides in the spring. Some don't quite hear what's being said. Or they are bound to just say what they think with out being at practice and knowing what is really going on there.

they did look good in that last game no doubt..

Posted: May 3, 2013, 12:08 AM

but what i am saying is i am going to hold out on them being really good this year until after the first game.we looked good against v tech in both games the year before defensively it was due to their offense not being so great.

Our defense looks good when we play the LSU and Va Tech style offenses. #### our defense might would had held up reasonably against Alabama since they run the same type of offense essentially.

its the other teams that we play like crap against

I mean...

Posted: May 3, 2013, 12:05 AM

you can look at it that way. But for sure the Tigers will be solid on DLine and LBer's. The question will be in the secondary. They'll need some guys to step up and create some depth.

link

I think you make an excellent point

Posted: May 3, 2013, 8:58 AM

I believe the defense played hard and it showed in the stats, but LSU's offense isnt all that. And to top it off, LSU tricked themselves. They saw how bad our secondary was all year so they passed too much with a terrible QB. If they had just came out and played LSU power football, I dont think there's any way we win that game. But it at least gave the defensive guys momentum and good reason going into the offseason to work hard and get even better this year.

Why look forward to this season

when we could look forward to NEXT season? ;)

Don't look ahead

Talk about putting the cart before the horse! We've yet to play a single game in 2013 and we're writing about 2014! That's crazy!

ONE game at a time!***

And if we lose Morris....

Posted: May 3, 2013, 1:08 AM

Anyway, there's no point in looking that far ahead. Let's worry about this year first.

Notice your article doesn't brace us for losing Chad Morris.

Posted: May 3, 2013, 6:46 AM

Pretty much a foregone conclusion in my eyes.

Losing Chad Morris.....

would be tough, no doubt. But he is not THE ONLY good Offensive guy in the country, and our Head Coach has shown the desire and ability to attract good, if not great coaches. Don't drink Guyana Punch if Morris decides to take his shot as HC in the next year or two.

Here we go again,,,Wait till next year

seems like it was not long ago, thats the same saying the cockerels were using

They weren't saying it after an 11 win season...

and a top 10 finish, with a bowl win over one of the best teams in the country.

But they were after losing to us 4 years in a row.***

I honestly don't see how 2014 will be as strong - don't.....

Posted: May 3, 2013, 9:16 AM

see how we can lose TB and probably SW and our offense be as effective with a new QB, etc. - see 2014 as being a rebuilding year - see 2015 as being a strong year.

^^^agree. Maybe not rebuilding, but some serious remodeling.

A lot will depend on Chad Kelly's recovery and/or Deshaun Watson's signed letter of intent. Losing Tajh Boyd is going to leave us with a serious experience deficit at QB regardless unless Cole Stoudt can get a lot of snaps this year and somehow become "the man" in 2014 ...

I can see it b/c we are recruiting better talent across the board. Look at our recruiting class signed sealed and coming. We are loaded with 4 star talent. I can't remember the last time we recruited such a talented class from top to bottom.

Similar to Vols winning a MNC with T Martin at QB

the year after Manning left.

QB is way to important in the grand scheme of things

Posted: May 3, 2013, 10:40 AM

and you have to assume Boyds replacement will be as production in 2014. That isn't to say we can't have someone just as productive in the future at some point, but banking on the first season after his departure is a big gamble.

And watkins is a generational player, he isn't replaced.......

I see a slight dip in 2014, sorry.

With our D improving we won't need as many points to win.

Wait until 2014??

Are they just trying to give the Gamecock fans something to laugh at us about?

Good article! But doubtful Morris returns. That's critical***

I don't take this article to say wait til 2014, overlooking

2013, but rather that we will not be a once and done team. We do not just have a bright outlook for 2013 but a bright outlook for the foreseeable future.

link

Just my input...

Posted: May 3, 2013, 7:29 PM

If Clemson is to have a BIG year,it will be 2013,not 2014.If for no other reason, QB.
And while I do see a much better defense in 2014.The offense is surely to take a couple steps back.

Either way, the time is now...NOW.

Some of you need to learn how to comprehend

Posted: May 3, 2013, 8:50 PM

and read, he said 2014 doesn't need to be looked at as a step back year, had nothing to do with this year. Everyone knows this is gonna be a great year and all he is saying is so can 2014. Good Lord do some of you try to find negativity in everything? Also you don't say wait till next year after 11-2 season

That why coaches coach, and players play, and spectators speculate. Coaching and playing with this kind of mindset, we would be defeated before we leave the locker room. This kind of doubt and belief is what the opposing team live for. Half the battle is won for them before the first snap. It not over until the final second expires! ALL IN PLAYERS, FRESHMAN OR SENIOR, NEVER DOUBT, ALWAYS BELIEVE, AND SUCCESS IS GUARANTEED TO FOLLOW!

to learn how to read

Whos being negative?
Just saying, why should we even be thinking about 014,when 013 is right upon us.

I think we will be fantastic in 2014

Posted: May 4, 2013, 10:28 AM

I can't say we will be National Title contenders. We will have a major bowl appearance no doubt. As of right now I think we will be National Title contenders every year for the next 4 or 5 years. The talent level is tremendous. Our coaching staff is the best in the country and our determination to win is very high.
