No, I didn't say that.
Mark May never rated us highly in 2008, and called other analysts dumb for doing so. He turned out to be right.
This year, Mark May has us rated in his top 5 and other analysts generally have us lower. I'm hoping he's right again.

His pick for LSU at the Chic Fil A bowl speaks volumes about his current football prowess. Lou's day has passed. It departed when he was a coot.

It seems that will motivate our players more. It is a much nicer win when everyone thinks you are going to lose.
I am wondering who is Lu's pick for top five?

I would much, much rather all the know it all's to be saying that we were way over rated. And they see us finishing 6 or 7th in the acc with no chance of a meaningful bowl game. Clemson has always played it's best when people were talking much bad shet about us.

12-1 Bama would make it to the BCS over either ND or the non Big12 champ out of Texas and Oklahoma.
Also, if we played tOSU in the MNC, we'd have to listen to ESPN and Coots shouting about how it's not a real championship because we didn't play the SEC

I agree. If we get that far, I would rather play an SEC team over any conference. That would shut all the sec homers up about Clemson couldn't play and win in the sec.

reminds me of the the 2008 season. Preseason #9, several commentators had us as their darkhorse MNC candidate. then get mollywopped in the Ga Dome by Bama.

Last year felt like 2008 to me before the season

Inexperienced O-Line and a ton of skill players, opening up against a team from Alabama, but the line was serviceable and we ended up having a very good year.
This year the questions are at RB, LB, DE, and in the secondary. I think the secondary will be much improved, LB will be somewhat improved, DE will be around the same, and RB will have some drop off (almost have to drop some when you lose a guy like Ellington).
The Georgia game is make or break this year. We win, it could catapult us to Pasadena. We lose, we're playing for the Orange Bowl and thinking about what might have been.

depends on the freshmen really. Rod isn't quite Ellington just like Ellington wasn't quite CJ coming in, and I haven't seen enough out of Howard (runs too upright, fumbles more than you'd like) or Brooks(just haven't seen much of him) to make me think they're ready.

RB's. Andre Ellington is a rare type of back. He's not just fast, he's incredibly efficient. He picks up last-second, extra yards more than any back in recent memory. Cj was a nightmare for other teams in the open field, but if a play was dead he was average at picking up those emergency half yards or yards. Andre constantly added a yard or two w/ each short running play we ran. That kind of thing is rarer than high speed, and its huge for a Chad Morris style system.
I feel good about our RB's and don't see them as a weakness, but nobody is as good as Andre Ellington was.
