after last year, though, they need to earn it. You don't have a season like that and get ranked in the top 15.

struggles will continue, they have new offensive staff that will need time because they are partly rebuilding the OL (lost both OTs and a third guy in rotation) and their skill positions are in shambles (no skill guys who stand out), plus a shaky, overrated QB.
If their offense is productive at all I will be stunned.

#18 in yds/game (18 in the nation 2 in the ACC), while having one of the worst turnover margins in the nation.

I do hope VT rebounds, but where are they going to get the offensive firepower to win 10 games? They're probably going to lose to Alabama, which means they can only lose one other game the rest of the year. Will they beat one of the UNC or Miami, then have no slip ups the rest of the year? It's possible, but not if they don't vastly improve their offense.

he predicted us to win the ACC championship when no one did few years back. He did predict FSU last year to win it.
Having said this, unless the tall QB is much much improved, I don't see it. He seems to lack confidence but I only watched the Clemson games and VT. We had his number. I hope they do rebound and beat SATAN team and that will be good for the ACC and actually will be tremendous. Of cource, couple that with a CLEMSON win over UGA and ESPN will be wondering what hit them. GO Tigers, GO ACC.

according to Steele, at least their OL will be improved, but they really don't have any play-makers to help Thomas out. I don't think he's as bad as some y'all seem to think, and that's just because he's had some really stellar performances in the past. I just think he looks lost when he doesn't have a lot of help.

VT fans are surprised by this ranking too. I'm forever the optimist but after last year anything higher than #20 seems high at this point.
A lot depends on our OL. LT is solid w/ time to throw. And as you have shown us 3 times in the last 2 years, he's not so good under pressure.
As for the skill positions, WR will be about the same and RB can only be better. The problem is both of those units sucked last year and so we may just improve from very bad to bad.

I'm at a loss for words, I don't even see what kind of twisted logic you could pull for VT to be ranked over Florida, LSU, Clemson, SCAR, Oklahoma, and aTm. There's just no way. That has to be a typo right?

he has got Notre Dame at ten, we all saw what happened to them against 'Bama and they lost their best linebacker and their starting QB. Not to mention that at 10 they are 3 spots ahead of aTm, who beat that Alabama team.
I think this year he has decided that controversy sells more magazines than accuracy.
