It's still the best urban renewal attempt in history though. Gotta give him credit for that. LOL!

The comments in this thread about Sherman's burning of Columbia are historically inappropriate, especially in light of the human suffering involved. This tragic loss destroyed a city which at the time was considered among the most well designed in the nation. While some posters make light of Columbia presently, just recognize more "urban renewal" occurred from 1945 to 1975 before citizens fully understood the significance of architectural identity as a community.
Clemson's image has drastically changed, but few consider it a loss in light of progress.
Just my two cents worth as a professional in the field of History.

Yeah, and if you read the history books (published in NYC) you will find that Sherman's soldiers on his march to the sea were choir-boys. Meanwhile, southern reports, from the time, said they were thieves, rapists, and murderers of innocents. It has been estimated that they stole more than $10 M of silver, cash, and fine decorations from undefended women and children Plus, they burned most houses and fields of crops and killed the farm animals just b/c they could. (In Ohio, they regard him as a hero instead of the War Criminal that he was.)

What Sherman did in the south was horrible! Anyone who thinks otherwise is a history revisionist. His army would be considered terrorists today for their inhuman acts.

HA! South Carolina needs an enema!
Cootlumbia has always been referred to as the armpit of South Carolina, maybe it should now be called the anus.

I looked up "coot cleanse" and it is defined as an "enema".

Believe the proper nomenclature would have to be " Chickenema " .

Take one look at Korncoot and tell me he doesn't need an enema. Ha! You know he's backed up in there.
