I disagree with him. The alternative is to trap a QB who might have a better future if he transfers.
The players are the one's who actually risk life and limb to play the game, they should at least have as many options for their futures as is possible.

On the flip side, Coach Swinney can redshirt a guy if he knows that the following season there will be an issue with depth at a specific position. There's pros and cons to this. Not everyone is a dang cry baby because they're not the starter. We don't want people like that anyway. Let them transfer.

I actually think players that are recruited to come to a school, and that HC leaves prior to the student leaving, should be allowed to transfer without having to sit a year. There should be a 2-way contract such that it also protects the student.
Example: Take FSU this year. Many on that team are NFL hopefuls, and even if they make the NFL, their body of work will not be as good and will cost them $$$$. Not a perfect solution, but better than the current situation IMO.

....agree with that sentiment. I remember so many Tnetters applauding this rule change and posting about how we can play (insert name here) freshman for 4 games and get them game experience and then redshirt them. Or if a starter goes down, we can get 4 games out of a player to help with that, and still redshirt them. All of that is still true, but I don't think very many of us foresaw this particular turn of events. I know I didn't.

I agree 100%. Trap somebody . . this is a school, your dedication. This isn't a free market. Get over it. It is a bad thing. How about if it was only available to freshman? That is probably the original intention. Not for some upper classman to get his feeling hurt and leave.

don't get in a kid's ear and sell them a load of crap, getting them to transfer under false pretenses.
Coach interference should warrant 1 year death penalty for the program.
