I knew Gary pretty well...

and will miss seeing him at athletic events. He attended EVERYTHING, baseball, basketball (men's AND women's), soccer (men's and women's) and probably volleyball. Gary also attended many baseball practices, but had been at fewer of them recently. Gary used to work in professional baseball in the Northeast, but moved to Clemson because of his daughters. In fact, I think one of them married a Clemson athletic administrator. I think he'd attended every game since Littlejohn Coliseum opened. That's a record that will likely never be broken. While many fans may not have known him by name, many of the players and coaches did and he will be sorely missed by each of them. I will miss seeing him when the new school year begins. You would be hard-pressed to find a more dedicated Clemson fan than Gary. May he rest in peace.

Was he the gentleman that yelled back and forth with Danny?

Did he have a gray Goatee or beard?

He didn't have the "Santa Claus" beard...

that's Charlie. Gary did interact with Danny at soccer games more than at baseball games.

Gary loved his Tigers and he always greeted you like he was happy to see you. Nice man.

A great Clemson Tiger fan and friend of mine passed away yesterday on his way back from the ACC Tourney. Sad to hear this news. Gary always had a smile on his face and was a great guy. Glad I had the chance to sit with him on numerous occasions at Clemson basketball games.
