CFP should not fall in same trap as BCS

Dec 2, 2018, 10:02 AM

One of the main weaknesses of the BCS was that it became self fulfilling prophecies. The most common example was measuring SEC teams off other SEC teams that were highly ranked, but maybe not worthy of that ranking.

The CFP comm should be very cautious about UGA and including them because they played Bama close. Yes Bama has been ranked 1 all year, but no #1 seed has ever won the playoff, so just because “you” say their best doesn’t mean they are. UGA had their chance, now OSU or OU should get theirs.

Agree with you.

I "suspect" UGA is one of the four best teams based on everything I've seen/heard. Then again the heavy media bias towards the SEC is real. You're never really sure how good the SEC is during the regular season because teams basically get bumped up in the polls for playing each other.

For example, Florida being ranked #9 is a joke. Nobody outside of the SEC thinks UF is the #9 team.

IF UGA and OK both had one loss I'd go with UGA. But in my opinion a 12-1 OK deserves to get in over an 11-2 UGA.
