Brownell is in over head

Feb 12, 2017, 4:57 PM

Brownell can't recruit and he can't develop his players. You have to develop in this league.

Stating your opinion as a fact does not make it true.***

OK, you feel like a big shot now....

Feb 12, 2017, 6:46 PM

the rest of us know that it's a simply ridiculous opinion to say that a man

who's been to the NCAA 4 times "is in over his head", or

that the man who has helped developed

KJ McDaniels, Landry Nnoko, and soon to be NBA'er Jaron Blossomgame,

can somehow "NOT" develop talent.

Not hitting on all cylinders tonight, are you?

Poor examples of player development. Take a closer look and

Feb 13, 2017, 9:14 AM

you will see the error of your statement. Only 1 player really fits your description. Nnoko actually regressed from a rebounding and foul perspective. Jaron has regressed from a rebounding perspective the last two years and plateaued last year in scoring.

You made a good case for his lack of player development in a series of posts last week in trying to blame the players for the state of our basketball program. Now, when the criticism is directed at the Coach, you attempt to make the opposite case. You seem more of Brownell fan than a Clemson basketball fan. http://www.tigernet.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=21062048

Feb 13, 2017, 9:53 AM

you see it's stuff like this that tells me you're pre-disposed by your opinion

of Brownell,

and not letting real un-biased judgement be your guide.

To suggest that B-Game has "regressed" is ridiculous - BBall is more than about numbers - significantly more.

And to say that Nnoko regressed from when he came into the program is also simply moronic - I'm sorry.

The kdi could barely walk and now he's playing in Italy...

You need to clear your head - find another way to come at this -

because right now you aren't making a lick of sense.

Tigernet. You would do better to use actual facts for your arguments instead of name calling. Name calling is for those who can't support their argument with facts.

Your track record suggests that is your MO.

yeah - you can call Brownell an idiot, but don't

Feb 13, 2017, 10:05 AM

let anyone call you an idiot, right?

as soon as people on here start defending the right of Brownell

and other coaches to not have their jobs challenged by mob rule -

which is an AD's issue, not a fan's -

then I'll start worrying about people's little keyboard ego.

now that's my MO, pumpkin...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You have an aversion to the truth. Could you post the link

Feb 13, 2017, 10:27 AM

to the post where I called Coach Brownell an idiot?

That's why you have a credibility problem. You don't deal in facts. You deal in factually incorrect personal attacks.

Only 1 of those trips to the NCAA was at CU....

Feb 12, 2017, 7:27 PM [ in reply to OK, you feel like a big shot now.... ]

with players he did not recruit. He has not developed the players well at Clemson, with only 1 player riding the pine in the NBA proves it. CBB has had seven years here and we are not better than when he arrived.

He was given more than enough rope, he has hung himself. Clemson has made him a very wealthy man. He'll be fine but the longer he is here the more stagnant our basketball program will become.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

duh, and it's that one trip that proves the point...

Feb 13, 2017, 9:59 AM

if BB were "in over his head" he would not have been able to coach

that first team into the Tourney -

an overwhelmed coach would have squandered the talent.

unless of course you're saying the players got there on their own.

but then you've got the problem of how did 2 UNCW teams and 1 Wright State team

get into the NCAA if it were only the players and not the coaching.

logic, my friends -

it will set you free...

first year he was at Clemson, and we played Duke on the road, Coach K said afterwards he was extremely impressed with how well coached we were.

Stick with the guy! He's had some bad breaks this year...one point loss to UNC, last shot loss to Syracuse, and had an opportunity to hit a three to beat Duke yesterday.

Okay, let's say we make a lot of you happy and fire him. Who do we get, Phil Jackson, bring Bobby Knight out of retirement, hire Coach K from Duke,????? Be real!

Feb 13, 2017, 10:42 AM [ in reply to I'd give him another season. He had a good foundation ]

I still don't get why people continue to compare our football program to our basketball program. It just doesn't make sense. We are expecting to be good at football based on our history. Clemson has shown they can be competitive when OP was here making the tournament 4 times while he was here. The expectation used to be trying to win in the tournament and now its just trying to make it? Not where you want to be as far as setting your expectations.

Football is on another level and just is not comparable to basketball.

Feb 13, 2017, 9:25 AM [ in reply to I am still a Brownell backer. If you can remember, the ]

Why do we continue to lose so many close games? Just chalking it up to bad luck or what? I believe it has to be coaching. I will continue to support BB until he is not our coach but we have to have better in bounds plays and we have to start winning in crunch time. This is on the players and the coach but the coach has to put our boys in the right position to win and our boys have got to start making shots when it matters most.

His recruiting class next season is his best

Feb 13, 2017, 8:07 AM

since he's been here. A.J. Oliver, a 4 star SG is already enrolled. Also have two 6'8 forwards, a 4 and 3 star, a a long 3 star wing player with great athleticism in Clyde Trapp. Also 6'8 transfer Skara. It's a really good class.

That said, I don't think that class should affect any decision on Brad. None of the guys are the type who would be a prigram changer from the get go. Their impact will really be felt 2-3-4 years down the road. Even if Brad gets another year, it will be the returnees who are the core contributors next season with these guys playing complimentary roles.

We'll see what happens. Personally, I think we need to finish strong the last 6 games or his job is in jeopardy

Correct. His records proves he is a poor player developer,

Feb 13, 2017, 9:19 AM

he can't recruit good ones players, and he can't put them in favorable positions to win through superior coaching.

He is poor at:

1. Recruiting
2. Player development
3. Schemes, strategy and plays.
4. Confidence
5. Sales

Re: Correct. His records proves he is a poor player developer,

Feb 13, 2017, 9:53 AM

He's never struck me as a guy that players would run through a brick wall for. Just doesn't seem to have that magnetic personality that draws people (recruits) to him. Hard to build a winner in this region without that character trait.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

recruiting is one thing but he definitely develops players***
