Of today’s Charlotte Observer about Irmo High hiring away a Charlotte high school coach for a whopping
$100,000 to coach only football with no other responsibilities. Seems like the North Carolina folks can’t see the importance of high school football in the state.

While I can’t disagree with your response please consider that very often a good coach has a great impact on a young mans life. Probably much more so that any subject teacher he may have. We need look no further than our own Coach Swinney to see the truth in this. That is one of the reasons that our Tigers are doing so well..... on and off the field. You read everyday where a player or potential player talks of the relationship he has with the coaches and that is a big reason why we as fans enjoy reading about the great recruiting classes and quality young men who call themselves
Clemson Tigers. A coach, like Dabo, is an extremely valuable asset to a university system.

But the column makes reference to Saban and what he has done for Bama at the college level. I guess Clemson is to far away for the editorial writers to consider!

Many English teachers at Irmo High School. There is only one head football coach.

Are the High School English Teacher and Head Football Coach

paid from the same revenue source? I would assume that the head principle at the high school can fire the football coach if expectations are not met. Can the English teacher be replaced by the principle as well or does an act of Congress have to be passed for that to occur?
