I decided to see how many we can potentially sign by projecting what the roster will look like next year. I had AJ Terrell, Travis Etienne, Tee Higgins, Isaiah Simmons, and Nyles Pinckney going pro. We will obviously have some transfers but I didn't want to make any speculations.
QB: 3 (Lawrence, Brice, Phommachanh) RB: 4 (Dixon, Mellusi, Dukes, Rencher) WR: 7 (Powell, Chase, Rogers, Ross, Ladson, Ngata, Spector) TE: 4 (Chalk, Galloway, Lay, Allen) OL: 10 (Stewart, Reeves, Bockhorst, Vinson, Carman, McFadden, Putnam, Rayburn, Boateng, Trotter) DE: 6 (Foster, Rudolph, Thomas, Henry, Mascoll, Cash) DT: 7 (Kelly, Williams, Jeffries, Davis, Reuben, Ruke, Tayquon) LB: 9 (Skalski, Spector, Jones Jr, Venables, Contantin, Patterson, Maguire, Williams, Upshaw) CB: 5 (Kendrick, Williams, Goodrich, Booth, Jones) S: 5 (Turner, Charleston, Thornton, Philips, Zanders) ST: 3 (Spiers, Potter, Swanson)
That is 63 total players, which means we have 22 spots available. That number can change by the 2nd signing day obviously. Amari could go pro. There are a number of possible transfers as well. I think this class can get up to 24. Which means we have 5 stops available. Flowe, Burch, EJ, and two more. Personally, I think we need 3 WRs. So I would love to see us get Xzavier Hendersen or Danyiel Ngata. And we could probably use one more CB as well. Don't judge me, I was bored.

Yes, but I think the coaches could turn him into a slot WR. Which would be big to go along with Ajou and EJ, who are big WRs. I don’t know if the coaches are recruiting with that in mind, but it sounds pretty good. Hendersen would be the better option of the 2.

You’re not the first to posit that theory

But I also think we’re at the point in recruiting where if we wanted a slot receiver we could go out and get a slot receiver (Spector) without having to try to convert a RB into one

Minuscule chance Pinckney goes pro

Add in a couple transfers and it’s a good size class.
Also wouldn’t be surprised if Spiers comes off scholarship 2020.
Give me another CB and maybe a DE. Think the 21 WR class is much better after missing on Fleming

Rencher and Upshaw could as well. I don’t know if Dabo would do that though. He values hard work more than most coaches.

The goal for how the class will finish is: 1) Flowe 2) Burch 3) EJ Williams 4) Xzavier Henderson 5) Longsnapper that got offered today (Byron Floyd)
Ngata isn’t happening. Doubt another corner happens, either. If we miss on any of the guys above, I strongly believe we will pocket the scholly for ‘21. Lot of good guys with interest in Clemson, and not a lot of space
