WDE: 1st Bryant / 2nd Yeargin DT: 1st Watkins / 2nd Lawrence DT: 1st Wilkins / 2nd Pagano SDE: 1st Ferrell / 2nd Register
WLB: 1st Boulware / 2nd C. Smith MLB: 1st Joseph / 2nd Lamar SLB: 1st O'Daniel NB: 1st Wiggins / 2nd Carter
CB: 1st Tankersley / 2nd Mullen SS: 1st J. Johnson / 2nd Muse FS: 1st Smith / 2nd D. Johnson CB: 1st Baker / 2nd Fields
This is how I see it at the start of the season based on our coaching staff's history. I think Huggins and R. Smith see plenty of playing time all though I didn't list them here. R. Smith could very well start by seasons end.

I like him a lot, but I don't see him holding off C. Smith and R. Smith at WLB. He may just be a good special teamer for us. We have a lot of really good LB's, someone has to be left out.

You don't think Wallace, Simmons or Mullen will crack the 2-deep? That's hard for me to believe. I think all three could be there by mid-season.

I have Mullen in the two deep behind Tank. I think Simmons redshirts if D. Johnson shows he can play like I think he will. I think Wallace could see time at NB allowing Wiggins to move to safety. But like I said, this is how I see it at the beginning of the season. Our coaches like experience and usually give the nod to guys who have been here longer.

Maybe.
I think Austin Bryant flexes to strongside end. Yeargin probably starts weakside. Ferrell will DEFINITELY push for time, but the fact that he hasn't started probably keeps him third in the rotation. Unless he shows something in the Spring, Register probably makes way for Xavier Kelly pretty early.
DT...pick 'em. Top four are probably Watkins, Pagano, Wilkins, Lawrence, but guys like Jabril Robinson are good enough they'll be hard to just park on the bench.
I'd betcha - almost anything - that Ben Boulware moves to MLB. I haven't seen much of anything out of Kendall Joseph to pencil him into the 2-deep past Spring, much less a starter's gig. I think Boulware's better in the middle than in space; he's certainly the most veteran and experienced guy we have. I think Chad Smith and Jalen Williams fight it out, at least in Spring, to see who starts at WLB, with Shaq Smith and Tre Lamar mostly just getting their feet wet. I definitely see Shaq Smith and Lamar getting on the field as the season progresses, I doubt they play much to start the season unless they're just spectacularly effective in Spring.
I am not dismissing Jalen Williams, myself. Somebody is going to have to beat him out...and he's the sort of player that can be very hard to beat out. At the very worst he flexes over to SLB and has a go at Dorian O'Daniel, and he could well do more than that, IMHO. I think Jalen Williams probably emerges at least from Spring as the starter at one of the outside 'backer positions, is what I think, and I think it could be the more coveted weakside spot, the one that does NOT come off the field when the nickel back comes in. We'll see how smart I am.
At corner, obviously, pencil Tankersley in at one CB spot. Carter and Baker will probably fight it out for the other...though I have heard people quietly telling me Mark Fields is as talented as Clemson as had, he just had some...ego issues that needed resolution. If Fields brings it this Spring, he's allegedly talented enough to show up huge. Jadar Johnson is very talented...and apparently has been pretty unfocused in the past, but he's got a clear shot at a starting gig his senior year and that has been known to wake guys up in a hurry. Van Smith is going to be a good one, if he's healthy; Korrin Wiggins could definitely factor as a safety, especially the way Clemson likes to bring them up into the box.

I would have to agree with you about Bryant at SDE. After I posted my prediction I thought about that and wanted to edit it, but I'm not a donor. So yes I would switch Ferrell and Bryant, and in doing so I think Yeargin gets the nod as starter over Ferrell do to experience.
I really like Williams and SLB might be a good move for him since we really don't have another natural LB behind O'Danial there.
Joseph was the 2nd string MLB last year and Coach V has given him pretty good raves a couple of times. I wasn't impressed with him when he played, but I don't know as much as Coach V so I will listen to what he says. I don't see Ben moving, he has been at WLB for two years now after being move from MLB. They seem to like him there and we have enough good LB to fill the spots.
I think if V. Smith and J. Johnson can maintain the two safety spots then I really see Wiggins staying at NB. He was a beast there and I think the coaching staff wants the best players on the field. That will give us three solid safety's playing at once.

until after spring practice?
I'm sorry - it's not fair at all but I whenever I think NB and ACL
I see Blanks limping around the last year.
Kid didn't even look like he could fully extend his knee to run at times.
Obviously hoping that Wiggins has better luck....
