Maybe it’s a good time to redo the ACC divisions

And restructure for more of a geographical alliance

I wish the conference would

take a more innovative approach and change the divisions yearly by switching 2 teams so every team will play every other team way more often than the way it is now

I’ll vote for that. I don’t like skipping years between playing some of the teams.

The ACC should add two teams and go to four team pods that rotate yearly. Would play every ACC team every three years. Great time to force ND and pick up another team, schedules are already screwed up.

Maybe use a "relegation" model and have three five

Jul 18, 2020, 5:33 PM

team pods. Two eligible for the ACCCG, and one "lower" pod. Bottom team in each of the 'higher" pods is relegated to the lower pod for the next year, with the top two teams in the lower pod being promoted to a higher pod. Have to figure out a schedule that would make that work!

I'd like to see all of college football re-align into pro/rel, actually.

Set up eight regions, 11 teams in each for each tier. There's your base 10-game conference schedule, then give a couple OOC games for bonus money and to preserve long-running rivalries if you've got 'em. Winners of each give you your 8-team conference bracket.

The loser of each division gets another prize - they get to play the winners of the next tier down in a challenge match to stay up in the top tier. If they lose, they drop a level.

Our region (let's call it Region II) would probably be the states of South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, and West Virginia. That would give us a conference composed of:

REGION 2 Division 1
1. Clemson
2. South Carolina
3. North Carolina
4. North Carolina State
5. Tennessee
6. Virginia
7. Virginia Tech
8. West Virginia
9. Kentucky
10. Louisville
11. ONE of probably Duke, Wake, or Vanderbilt

The next tier down would probably be:

REGION II DIVISION 2
1 and 2. TWO of that group of Duke, Wake, or Vanderbilt
3. Coastal Carolina
4. App State
5. East Carolina
6. Liberty (Virginia)
7. Memphis
8. Middle Tennessee State
9. Charlotte 49ers
10. Marshall (West Virginia)
11. Old Dominion (Virginia)

Basically, every year, the top team from Division 2 would play the worst team from Division 1, and the winner would get that slot in the top division...would gives low-division programs that want to invest a path up and it rids us of programs that don't care enough to compete.

All of our conference games would be in driving distance against programs that were comparable or close. No garbage games.

That looks a good bit better than what we presently have.

First move would be to force Notre Dame to join,or leave.
If they leave no problem. If they join, you need to add another team.
As is I favor a North /South division.
Granted,FSU would still be in our division,as would Miami. And Georgia Tech would join in.
But we could possibly lose Louisville depending.

Only the ACC would come up with something as non-sensical

Jul 19, 2020, 1:17 PM

as they did. North-South is the only thing that makes sense (except that Louisville makes no sense at all and don't even get me started with has-beens in Indiana) but the choose some random Atlantic and Coastal hooey.
