Tigers Pick Up Big Commitment For 2008

by -

The class of 2007 picked up some big momentum this past week with verbal commitments from Stanley Hunter and Scotty Cooper. Now, the class of 2008 is off to a nice start.

Blythewood wide receiver Marquan Jones had been a strong Clemson lean for some time. The news over the weekend still came as a little bit of a surprise. The junior wide receiver ended his recruitment with a verbal commitment to Clemson.

"Clemson's coaching staff is just great. Coach Scott was my recruiter, and I know I can come to him with anything. It was the right time for me to go ahead and make my decision," said Jones.

Jones had a chance to sit down with head coach Tommy Bowden to inform him of his decision.

"I told Coach Bowden I wanted to commit to Clemson, and we shook hands. It is over. Clemson is the only school for me."

Jones will be the number two wide receiver prospect in-state next year behind A.J. Green of Summerville.
