D'Alessio Slams Terriers |
Head Coach Jack Leggett sent a message to his team Tuesday night in hopes of providing a spark. It may have took awhile, but the Tigers awoke to defeat Wofford 7-1. Andy D'Alessio was clearly a player he was looking to get more from. D'Alessio was hitting .233 coming into the night. Ben Hall started in place of D'Alessio, but D'Alessio came off the bench in the sixth.
D'Alessio came up to bat with the bases loaded in the seventh and the Tigers leading 3-1 with one out. D'Alessio slapped the ball over the left centerfield wall to break the game wide open. Kris Harvey continued to stay red hot hitting his 16th home run of the season in the fourth. Harvey's was intentionally walked in final two at bats. He also scored three of the seven runs for the Tigers. Still the Tigers were only able to tally eight hits against the Terriers. The level of play must increase or the Tigers could be in for a long weekend. P.J. Zocchi made his second start back from Tommy John surgery and was again pitched well. He gave up one hit and his first run of the season. Daniel Moskos, who had struggled early in the year, really looked confident on the mound Wednesday night. Moskos went two innings striking out three with no walks and no runs given up. Stephen Faris will make his first weekend start of the year Friday night as Josh Cribb moves back to the bullpen. Cribb was the Tigers best reliever out of the bullpen last season and could provide an answer to the Tigers' problems finding a closer. Robert Rohrbaugh and Kris Harvey will be the other two starters in this weekend's pivotal series versus Georgia Tech.
