The recruiting process can be critiqued for what some consider flaws to its process. However, recruiting sometimes forms relationships that may potentially last a lifetime. Barry Humphries and Thomas Austin did not even know each other this time last year. Now, you talk to one or the other and it is like they have known each their whole lives.
"I really wanted to take my official visit with Thomas," Humphries said, "We really became very close at the Shrine Bowl. We had talked a couple of times on the phone before then, but we became really close at the Shrine Bowl." Humphries and Austin have used their new found friendship to recruit other players into the Clemson family, most notably their work on Mike Davis. The relationship these two playes have formed personifies the team and family mentality that head coach Tommy Bowden has placed an emphasis on since day one of his hiring. The time that we have had the pleasure to spend with these prospects we are all the more greater for. If these two players are even half the men on the field that they are off it, then there is no doubt that the class of 2005 will be never be forgotten.
