When did "top of mind" become such a popular phrase?

I don't think I'd ever heard it until Karine Jean-Pierre used it not that long ago. It seems like the next day, every political pundit and talking head was saying it, and now I hear them (and only them) using it regularly.

Above all else, love and forgive. Understand that people who disagree with you are not necessarily idiots or your enemies. Respect the wisdom of the founding fathers and individual rights and freedoms. Always see the beauty and humor in life.

Dont know. Is it like when someone asks you a question that may have multiple

options and you say, “Off the top of my head…can’t think of any “ ?

As a side note, every single one of my Indian colleagues says”On the top of my head” when asked open ended questions they don’t know.

Lulz. Cultural linguistics.

I get that - I've heard "off the top of my head" all of my life.

Unlike a lot of business terms such as selling velocity, forklift upgrade, bubble up, double click (en vogue with my current team), peel back the onion, surface, etc

top of mind - in all settings - has always been

Most important thing you're thinking about. Just a different way to say it.

No no - I understand what it means. Thanks, but that wasn't the question.

It was really me thinking (believe it or not) out loud. For 63 years, I never once heard that phrase; then all of a sudden, I hear it frequently from political pundits and talking heads. That was the point.
