What I want to see from our qb in first game.

Not throwing off his back foot and progressing through reads. If these items, are fixed from last season, that in itself will help out tremendously.
Yes, fundamental stuff but yet we saw it every game last year, repeatedly.
If he's got his feet set and can go through reads, then that's a good start and we can build on that effectively.

I, too, want to see DJ move his feet, shifting his feet to maintain balance and being ready to throw using his legs and not just his arm. Last year, it seemed to me that he stood flatfooted from the moment the ball was snapped until he finished his throws.

I believe our year’s success rests totally in qb play. It was our glaring weakness last year. All the talk of wr injuries, o-line, etc, etc had little to do with throwing passes 5’ over receivers heads or in the dirt. Our success in the playoff years was due to having 2 generational qb’s. DJ was supposed to be that too. I hope he will be. But if not, dabo will need to make a change before WF and Nancy St if we are going to the playoffs again.

1st games are tricky.
If he completes close to 70% of his passes and throws zero picks i will be happy.
I bet we line up and run Ship, Mafaha, and Pace until their feet fall off though.

Manage the game, protect the ball, take a sack or throw it away instead slinging it to a guy who is covered plus the things listed above.

I just want to see confidence. I want to see him play loose and have fun. I think all the other stuff, that he's literally been working on his entire life, will follow. Just go out and sling it around. No over-analyzing. DJU is the man. Go act like it. Go play like it.

This is pretty much how I feel too.... 'cept I would add that I'd like to seem him show some fire. Apparently his teammates love him. Nows the time to also be a vocal leader and show some positive emotion.
I'm pulling for you, DJ.

I want to see him having time to make great reads due to great OL play that affords him to run the plays instead of running for his life. We all might be surprised at how well our QB’s can be with time to make reads and throw to open receivers. He also needs to have the ability to run when he needs to run the ball. That’s what good teams with good QB’s and good OL’s do. That’s what I want.

I could care less if the offense makes first downs, scores points, and we win the game. Improvement from last year with healthy players will be obvious.

Seemed like every play, run or pass, took a half second too long to develop.

along with actually seeing the field instead of locking in on one guy. He improves those areas and it's lights out for opposing defenses.

I would like to see better touch and accuracy on short passes, making them more catchable and giving the receiver or running back a chance to catch the ball in stride.

I think most are saying they wish DJ could play more like Cade can play - more mobility, more accuracy, better reads and more natural leadership.

He's taking too long to go through his progressions and then he double-clutches before throwing. Some of that is definitely on the receivers, though.
So I think it's a little more complicated than just going through his progressions. He will have to extend plays with his feet, as well.

I'm hoping DJ memorizes the routes of two of his receivers..

and checks them while the play is developing. His staring down the primary from the snap to throwing the ball has to end.

Completions to “our receivers” is what I want. The rest will take care of itself via confidence and belief in each other.

I think we are going to be pleasantly surprised. I think we can all agree DJ went through a tough patch. Not everyone handles adversity the same. Some struggle more than others. What makes Clemson really special is there is genuine care and concern for one another in our family. There are resources readily available to help in any facet of the players lives both on the field and off.DJ appears to have reached out to improve himself in hopes thar we can write off last year as a " sophomore jinx " and move on. Go get em DJ
