What does it tell you about the "Fans" on this board?
Nov 15, 2010, 10:21 AM

When a post wanting us to lose badly to Wake Forest and the Coots(Seriously,Our Freaking Rival) gets 30 positive Votes?
Are these really Clemson Fans? I hope not!!! I think/thought Clemson Fans were better than that.
If that is how you really feel leave!!!! Go pull for the Coots to win the SEC and hang out with those "winners"!!!
Just don't come back when things turn around!!!

As a Gamecocks fan, I gotta tell you I never saw this kind of vitriol on the forums when we were 1-10 and 0-11. It's a pretty bad state to WANT your team to lose to your RIVAL. Even in the worst years, if I could pick one game to win, it would be Clemson, hands down. So I wish I could say I feel your pain, but I've never dealt with fans wanting to destroy the program, or wishing it destroyed.

If only 5% of Clemson's fanbase can see the writing on the wall that Swinney sucks, then Clemson has one of the more pathetic and passive fanbases in all of sports.

what, and hiring Holtz then Spurrier and letting then get any kid in school and run programs with no discipline shows how desperate USC is to win.
We hired a position coach that wasn't even in coaching 5 years earlier!

Have been against the Dabo hire from day one. But I will not pull against Clemson in any game and that goes double for the USC game. Never accuss me of pulling against Clemson, I would love to ruin Carolina'a year like they did us last year. but i don't know how we can beat them. I think USC will kill Clemson! that does not mean I hope it happens, it is just obeying logic instead of passion. They match up with us and beat us in every catagory. they have a better defense, a better offense, and a better kicking game. They have a seasoned QB with great recievers. Only weakness they have is their defense is shaky vs the pass, but we don't have a passing game so there. i am hoping maybe some of that old time Clemson magic will show up and we pull off a miracle win.

It tells you that a lot of people are fed up with

seeing the same ###### play out year after year. I'm not in that crowd personally. I hope we destroy Wake and hang 70 points on South Carolina.
But having watched Clemson for 35 or so years now, particularly the last 10 or so, I've seen this story unfold over and over again.
If a person loves Clemson football and genuinely believes that Clemson football will never thrive under the current staff, it's really not that irrational for them to root for whatever has to happen to get the current staff out.
It's also not irrational to want them to win out, win a bowl game and head into next year with some optimism and see if finally we can get over the hump. It's possible even for these two extremes to have a sensible conversation about the state of the program without all the name calling and questioning people's loyalty.

Anybody claiming to be a Clemson fan who can entertain the thought of hoping the team loses ... ever ... is not worthy of being part of a sensible discussion.

Some people might be under the opinion that the team wins if the staff loses. To me there is a clear division between the team and the staff, I want the team to succeed and in the long run that means losing this staff that cannot develop and utilize the amazing talent we have. If that means we have to sacrifice the end of this season then so be it.
Clemson wins if the current staff loses.

Nobody who is a Clemson fan EVER pulls for Clemson to lose.
If you pull for Clemson to lose in order to get rid of a coach, you might qualify as a FANATIC, but you are not a fan.
Spin it however you want.

Dang those Islamic religious fans ... what'r ya gonna do with'em?
So by your logic, suicide bombers are merely "fans" to whom killing innocent people is okay in order to achieve their goals?
I suppose by that definition, Clemson fans who are willing to support losing games in order to achieve the goal of getting rid of the coaching staff are indeed, fanatics.
Just like I said ...

I'm with you...never pull for a loss to get a result. This hire was not good and I'm afraid this is going to get even more ugly than this...if this staff goes into next year and we lose the Auburn game in the Dome it's going to spiral out of control like 1998.

Because of something I wrote in answer to one of his smarty remarks and when I went back this morning to see if anyone else had answered him ...the original quote by him was no longer on the board. Then I noticed he was not showing up on anyother articles from yesterday.

There is a place for complaints and criticism... but hoping for losses is wrong. You never hope for a loss, EVER... especially to South Carolina.
That is like hoping you die so you can spend your life insurance money.

Here is why losing serves the greater good
Nov 16, 2010, 2:11 AM
|
|
Listen bub, the reason some people, including myself, wouldn't mind so much if Clemson lost out is simple. It has to get much worse before it will ever get better. We all saw Tommy cling to his job way longer than he should have. Nobody wants another decade of that crap. Losing out gets the hot seat even hotter for Dabo. Maybe just maybe, he gets the boot and we get a real coach that offers HOPE and can move things FOWARD not backward.
It is similiar to the NFL fan hoping his team gets the number one over all draft pick. The season is lost, might as well get something positive out of the losing. Instead of a savior player in the draft, maybe we just hire a savior coach that can bring a ten win season and an ACC championship every once in a while.
