Tony said that he was more interested in UVA than Duke. They may be looking elsewhere.

In my experience with managing employees,

once an employee has accepted another job offer and then has a change of heart, they are usually lost forever.
Rarely is that employee the same performer and will usually move on shortly afterwards.
In other words, it doesn't matter.

The only rumor I heard about Poindexter was he wanted full control of hiring and firing staff and UVA was demanding that several assistants be retained.
In today's world that is highly unusual. If they are actually doing that, there is no wonder they are having trouble.
As Bill Parcells said, "If you want me to cook the meal, you gotta let me buy the groceries."
He was taking about making draft decisions, but it certainly applies to assistant coaches.

If one can not reach agreement on hiring and firing employees the one should walk away. The next guy will do the same thing (walk away) if he/she are smart. Either way, the program will not work well under those conditions.

According to Bronco Mendenhall, the AD took charge of recruiting when he left. I would have thought assistants would continue to recruit. Oh well.
