U.S. Open Qualifying

I took a few minutes to look around to see how many of our Tiger golfers I could find in the men's U.S. Open qualifying events.
First off, Cody Proveaux is actively competing in a Local qualifying event in Glencoe, AL. Here is the link if you want to follow along. It looks like the top 4 advance.

Next, I was able to find three other Tigers that have already completed their Local qualifying events.
Kyle Cottam finished second in Knoxville, TN on April 24 and will be advancing.
Crawford Reeves finished in a tie for first in Blythewood, SC on April 27 and will be advancing.
Bryson Nimmer finished seventh in West Palm Beach, FL on May 01 and is not automatically advancing. However, he is the second alternate.
Hopefully, we'll have some more Tigers in upcoming events. Also, let me know if I overlooked anyone. It isn't an easy task to find them.

I'd see it that about Bryson. He's been playing pretty good on the kft but he can't seem to put 4 rounds together.

A 15 year old beat out Bryson (and many others) in the West Palm Beach Qualifier . . . The 15 year old I want Jonathan Bryd’s son, Jackson, to talk into joining him in attending Clemson . . . Jackson and Cameron are good friends.
Yes, I know the 15 year old is Matt Kuchar’s son and is probably headed to GT to follow his Dad’s path . . . but a Tiger CAN HOPE!!!

I found a few other Tigers.
Blake Kennedy finished T45 in Wallace, NC on April 26 and is not advancing.
Phillip Mollica finished T74 in Stockbridge, GA on May 01 and is not advancing.

I found a couple more Tigers.
William Nottingham finished T3 in Boiling Green, KY on May 16 and will be advancing to Final qualifying.
Turk Pettit finished T7 in Hot Springs, AR on May 16 and is not advancing.

Kian Rose finished T18 in Gainesville, FL on May 10 and is not advancing.

Some really interesting results. There will be a lot of amateurs at the next round, but I guess there always is ....... just seems like a lot have qualified. I sat that Crawford Reeves has qualified as an amateur. Guess he applied for his amateur status to be reinstated. Matt Kuchar's son picked a really tough venue (field) to qualify at but did an outstanding job.
I also saw that Ray Floyd, Jr. qualified as an amateur ..... not exactly a youngster at 49 (I think). Good for him.

My goodness he sure did. Wish we had a tournament there this weekend... lol
-16 in 2 rounds. Where's that been Carson. Hope he keeps it up. I noticed the next score was -11.

All of the remaining Final Qualifying events will be Monday, June 05. At a minimum, we should see Kyle Cottam, Will Nottingham, and Crawford Reeves in some of those events. However, there will probably be a few other Tigers that were able to skip Local Qualifying as well.

Unless I overlooked some guys, it looks like we have eight Tigers playing in U.S. Open Final Qualifying events on Monday, June 05, 2023.
Ben Martin will be in Toronto, Ontario
William Nottingham will be in Ball Ground, Georgia
Crawford Reeves will be in Rockville, Maryland
Doc Redman and Sam Saunders will be in Durham, North Carolina
Kyle Cottam, Lucas Glover, and Kyle Stanley will be in Columbus, Ohio

Goodness! Lucas just missed a really short putt on the third extra hole in a 4 for 3 playoff that cost him a potential trip to the U.S. Open. He should be the first alternate from that qualifier, but if he would have made that putt, he would have stayed alive and moved on to the fourth playoff hole.
A few other Tigers came really close today also, but in the end, Carson Young is our only Tiger that has qualified for L.A. next week.
