I would have to say Bama would roll UCF as would we. They are making a good argument but in reality, a group of 5 will never make the playoffs unless it’s expanded or they beat multiple top 15 FBS teams within a season.
If UCF had beaten two top 15 teams, finishing undefeated, they’d be in.

Yep. As someone said earlier, if UCF had played even in the ACC they would have at least a loss if not more.
I would have to think if UCF had to play the teams in the playoffs, they’d lose all four.

Do not be fooled by bowl games. Any team can do it once? UCF would not have gone through the ACC or the SEC without 2 losses most likely.

years and years in advance, and the other problem is that nobody really wants to play them. Why would we want to schedule UCF? There's nothing to gain and too much risk of losing.

The season is the playoff. Join a power 5 conference and win it.

Generally I've seen the format for 8 team playoff as 5 conference champs + Top G5 + 2 at large.

Actually looking at their schedule. They tried to get GT but it got cancelled due to the hurricane. The other ranked teams they played were hyped up by their weak conference as well.
This was a good team. But had they even been in the conversation their resume would not have held up to get into the 4.

You don't let 3- 4 undeserving teams in and risk injuries to the legit National Championship Teams in a semi final; for Cinderella who played a cupcake schedule. UCF only played Memphis and USF all year and those teams' rankings are based off the fact that they also played cupcakes all year long.
