Today one of the more famous battles in history took place. In 1415 King Henry V of England defeated an enormous French army in their own backyard. He was outnumbered 5-1, and the French had heavily armored cavalry and knights ready to gallup all over his axx. The Brits had basically the shirts on their backs, and a secret weapon.


What was the secret weapon that won the battle?



Hint: To this day, this gesture in Europe means "Eff You", in part because of this battle.

Beng takes the prize with CLOSE ENOUGH! Actually, the longbow. Standing over 6 feet tall, long before Britain was famous for its navy it was feared for this:



The two fingered EFF YOU was a taunt the english gave their enemies, saying " I still have my fingers to nock my bow." Because if an englishman were captured in the 1400 or 1500s, he's have his longbow fingers cut off. Anyone who could pull a trigger could fire a crossbow, but it took years to train with a longbow.
