I’m not disappointed by any means but after hearing the Leonhard rumors it’s a small letdown.

Willing to give the guy a fair shot an it’s absolutely an upgrade over Wes.

I see a lot of Penn St fans giving him credit for adjusting after the half and if that’s true then that by itself will be an improvement over what we’ve been dealing with.

So in the end… happy for a new voice and a new direction on defense and will give the guy a fair shot.

Wes never adjusted at half time that I was aware of.

Wes' adjustments went the wrong direction. See 4th Q vs SC. Second half vs Pitt. Second half vs SMU.

Our defense got worse as games went on. Wes was regularly outcoached in-game.

Still the fact remains the DC lost his voice with the team and effort just wasn’t there anymore.

It certainly was adjustment based in some situations. The most glaring was pulling Sammy Brown out in the 4th quarter against the coots.

Wes has done well as far as halftime adjustments. We had a solid defense in two of three years and even were the 8th best defense in the country last year. We made some solid adjustments the first two years, but the effort had disappeared this year. Adjustments were made but not executed. It wasn’t scheme as much as fire and intensity.

Citing Sammy Brown as if he single-handedly would have changed the outcome of the SC game is kind of silly. There’s no proof of that, and besides it was really one play where we had numerous guys in positions to make the play, but execution had failed.

It actually looked like we had solid halftime adjustments his first two seasons.

Even finished 8th in the country in 2023. Likely tried to adjust the same way in year 3, but I just don’t feel like we had the vocal leader needed for buy in.

I always felt Leonhard was looking for more upward mobility within the NFL and it looks like that may have been the case.
