and no way I am putting this on the mange, but if I am Cade and I come out of Charlotte with little to no playing time and Clemson loses….I am in the portal faster than the door can open.
Dabo’s comments from yesterday are completely inexcusable

If he’s not being told at least weekly that this is his job next year no matter what- he should leave IMO.

I think one of two things has already happened...
Nov 29, 2022, 2:08 PM
|
|
1. DJ has already let the staff know this is his last year so they are riding with him (and it's Cade's team next season)
or
2. Cade has already told them he is transferring after the season and he isn't playing because of that.
Those are the only two logical things I can come up with that would make sense as to what is going on and how Dabo is handling the QB debacle.

If option 2, then see my post below.

Sorry my friend, but option 2 isn't logical to me at all. If a kid comes to Coach RH Tig and says he's already decided to transfer, then I'm prepping Hunter Johnson as my backup for the next two games and telling Cade to go ahead and start calling prospective schools. I think any coach would.

in practice?
Have you been to practice (lots of them, with the trained eye of a college football coach), or will your mind not even consider that as a possibility?

anything other than what we see on Saturdays and hear from the coaches in pressers.
But if Cade truly isn't better than DJ then the program has much bigger issues than benching, or not benching QB1. But I refuse, as a fan that watches everything I can Clemson football related, to believe that he isn't as good or as serviceable as DJ. It would be hard to find many P5 QBs that couldn't beat DJ out of a starting position.
And practice is practice. I can hit the greatest shots of my life on the driving range, but does it always follow me to the course? No. Same with DJ. Maybe he is an all-star practice guy. But he definitely doesn't bring it to the games when it matters most.
Is it that had to believe that Dabo is just being loyal like he has the reputation of being?

Again, the performance on the field says DJ isn't good.

I respect your thoughts and you usually have some good takes, but we'll just agree to disagree here.
Pretty clear how the dynamic changes when Cade is on the field vs. DJ.
I don't hate the kid. he just isn't a good college QB. He's a bust.

Didn't CK come in during the fall and wasn't here for spring ball?
So he's a true freshman that doesn't know the offense and possibly isn't up to speed on reading defenses?
He could be the QB of the future without being the better option now.
It's not like we're 4-5 and rebuilding for next year.

Maybe he gets the start due to his prior weeks practice, but when he's been ######## the bed for 3 quarters it's time to try something different. Really no excuse in it, particularly Saturday as bad as he was.

place? Even given DJ's performance last year, he had to know that there was a very high probability that he was going to sit behind DJ for a year...or behind almost every team in the nation's experienced QB for that matter. If every freshman QBs all thought the way fans do, it would be an incredible waste to recruit one out of high school at all. Coaches could just pick up the flavor of the week out of the portal every year and save on the recruiting budget. And, if that WAS Cade's line of thought, why risk getting hurt and go ahead and make the jump now so you can get a headstart vetting the coaches and schools your want to bestow your Heisman-like skills upon?
Yes, Dabo's comments are frustrating to fans who want immediate answers and fixes...but I guess what I'm saying here is that we need not worry. Christopher Vizzina will be the second-string QB we can blindly worship next year and build up into being our immediate savior.
