give speeches based on that year's theme, "The Sky is the Limit" and I was suppose to tout the mighty dollar, being rich, achieving tangible things like houses and cars, etc. you know, typical shallow American consumerism. I refused. I wrote a speech from my heart based on what I felt success was. Primarily being happy and accomplishing your personal goals, championing some more intangible accomplishments not measured in dollars or net worth. Well, the head of the English department and the principal were having none of that. Even said I was wrong. So I said fine, then I'm not going to give a speech. I refuse to give any speech not written by me. After some teachers, of course my parents, and a bunch of students supported me, they finally gave in and I gave my speech. So you folks aren't special, Ive been pissin' people off a longgg time with my views.
