The new video board is nice but there

seems to be too much going on that is taking away from the football game itself. With all the introductions, promotions, awards, and notifications along with the number of TV timeouts focus on the game is being lost. Danny Ford would only allow players on the sideline that would actually play because he said it was a distraction for the other players. He would have never allowed the circus going on around Death Valley these days. I’m surprise Dabo does not have them tone the distractions down.

Ummmmmmm I hate to tell you but the world has changed, recruiting has changed, and players have changed. Wish that wasn’t the case but if you want to stay in the old days and try to compete with the big time programs like we have gotta stay with the times. Somethings I don’t like but I understand why it’s done

That is a great reply and response. Yes, I have been Iptay since 1974 and seen all 3 Nattys in person. I followed Danny to most away games. I have sit in the stadium knowing we did not have a chance to win in years past. But you are right. Things have changed and for recruiting purposes I guess they need to. Being 75 it seems a little overwhelming. I can take it if it is good for the tigers.

not what it used to be. NO SPONTANEITY. NONE. The band used to be used to help pump the crowd up. Now, it is halftime and one song maybe during the game....The constant annonuncements during time outs are so loud you cannot even hear yourself speak to the person beside you. It is no wonder people leave at halftime and don't come back IMHO. OH, and the entertainment from kids sliding down the side hill have long been gone,LOL!

I miss the games from when I was younger to don’t get me wrong but the crowd imo is still as loud, the second half of the Syracuse game was as loud as ever and the NC State game was wild. I hope this is as far as they go because if we keep going i fear the uniqueness of CFB will be swallowed up by imitating the NFL.

If Danny still coached today, he would not run a version of the bone and he would have the same video board in the valley that Dabo has.

Maybe so. Times have changed. You youngsters will be 75 someday and may have some of the same issues with change.

They have always done that. I always hated when they would do some check presentation or something during pregame before running down the hill. Really an atmosphere killer. Save the presentations to timeouts or halftime.

Glad someone agrees. It seems a bit of a circus to me. Don’t misunderstand as I love getting our tigers and fans pumped before the game.

I understand mjc point and I have to feel studies, focus groups, etc were done. And understand the monetary value. Perhaps it's Neff is so young. That said, I personally don't need or get it at 72. One thing I'm sure of, Clemson doesn't need to do it. We're our own brand.

Actually I have heard the same observation from every age group. They all think the video board is cool, but acknowledge they find it distracting, the noise level too loud, with the game and actual crowd noise becoming secondary. I’m talking 20 something’s and up. May be a good recruiting tool, but there are some drawbacks.

Gamecock loyalists, have told me the distractions in Williams-Brice are somewhat annoying, particularly when they go dark after TD's. Other complaints center around the flashing strip lighting around the stadium.
We're in a new era where flash and pizzazz rule, and I doubt there's any going back. In fact I'm waiting on the roar of 155 Howitzers and mortar rocket fire along with the 82d Airborne parachuting into games!

Luckily for the fans, Willy Brice doesn't go dark too often.

seriously that Coach Ford would be successful in. That is, unless he changed his style a whole lot to accommodate. It would be almost comical to see him try and recruit some of these social media addicted young'uns.

I don't really care what Danny would've allowed.
This is a different era in college football. Coaches have to adapt, or find themselves without a job.
Danny hasn't coached college football in over 25 years. He "resigned" at Clemson because he couldn't get along with the administration, and made their arguments public. He was let go at Arkansas for not winning enough. So I'd say that he failed to adapt, on multiple levels.
This information makes "what Danny would've done" pretty much irrelevant to this discussion.
I love Danny, but come on.
Dabo is doing something right, wouldn't you say?
