The Dems still just do not get it

Whether it's the echo chamber they live in or their ridiculous need to virtue signal some twisted form of compassion, they want to use personal opinions on the state of racial harmony as a part of sentencing. W T F? Crazy, but it makes some 'sense' because the left already has multiple standards for the same crime. This is just an extension of that and the radical judges making or changing law from the bench.

The Justice Department has opened a civil rights investigation into the Minneapolis-area Hennepin County Attorney’s Office’s new directive for its prosecutors to consider race when negotiating plea deals with criminal defendants.

Attorney General Pam Bondi, Acting Associate Attorney General Chad Mizelle and Assistant Attorney General of the Civil Rights Division Harmeet Dhillon informed Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty in a letter that the Justice Department is opening a probe into whether the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office "engaged in a pattern of practice of depriving persons of rights, privileges or immunities secured or protect by the Constitution or laws of the United States."

The letter, dated May 2, cited Moriarty’s recently adopted "Negotiations Policy for Cases Involving Adult Defendants," which instructs prosecutors to consider race when formulating plea offers, stating that "racial identity… should be part of the overall analysis," and that prosecutors "should be identifying and addressing racial disparities at decision points, as appropriate."

"In particular, the investigation will focus on whether HCAO engages in illegal consideration of race in its prosecutorial decision-making," they said in the letter.

Let's be clear about this - THEY HAVE WRITTEN IT DOWN. It's not hearsay or someone's opinion. They want to use race and some subjective measure as a 'slider bar' to make themselves feel better about sentencing.

Some might see cases like this (and others) that indicate there’s still racism that can impact our judicial system. The US has made significant improvements over the last 60 years but unfortunately bias still exists.

Once again left wing kooks can't defend the OP so they try to derail the thread. Start your own thread if this topic is so near and dear to your heart. Or do you lack the mental capacity to comprehend how message boards work?

You won't find a single left winger who has an issue with you getting prison time for the same offense a minority gets a fine for committing. They despise you and want you dead but will settle for imprisoned.

Direct quote from Hennepin County prosecutors guidance

This is the best part of Hennepin County (encompasses Minneapolis) chief prosecutor Mary Mariarty’s guidelines.

She rationalizes that discrimination is the only way to prevent discrimination. Not making this up. Quoting her:

“While racial identity and age are not appropriate grounds for departures [from the Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines], proposed resolutions should consider the person charged as a whole person, including their racial identity and age. While these factors should not be controlling, they should be part of the overall analysis. Racial disparities harm our community, lead to distrust, and have a negative impact on community safety. Prosecutors should be identifying and addressing racial disparities at decision points, as appropriate.”

(*). Dear TNet leftists. Please explain how this makes sense to you. (This should be good.)
