The ACC is unlikely to want to go through discovery

This case is going to end up being settled. It would be catastrophic for the content of many of the inner workings of the conference to be publicly aired.
I honestly don’t see it going to trial so barring some immediate tossing of the case, we’re looking at some sort of negotiated settlement.

The problem with that...

is that all the other teams that want out would then follow suit. And the ACC has to know that.
I don't disagree that they don't want discovery... but they may have to fight this to the hilt or else it's de facto the end of the conference.

Ok, but play that scenario out
They settle with FSU, then Clemson & UNC are next. Then UVA, Miami, and NCST after that.
And those schools will be privy to the details of the settlement
Then the ACC falls below 15 teams and espn cancels their tv contract
I think the current ACC leadership is willing to die on this hill.
It will be interesting to see if Jim Phillips survives the next few months as commissioner. I think he will be terminated for cause, and replaced by an ACC school president to wind down the conference

of the NCAA, the leagues and schools to anticipate the future of the game itself and become proactive some years ago.
The entire system needs revamping with four divisions: north, south, east and west conferences, each with 16 to 20 teams perhaps, all within their own regions. For playoffs you'd have eight teams vying for regional titles, then four semis, then the title game. A program would not compete in the semis unless it held its regional title.
Fans would travel only within their regions for games except occasional OOC ones, and the national title game would rotate between the regions. All income would be pooled, then evenly distributed within the four regions.
To eliminate Satan's creation called the new transfer rules we would revert back to the old. The NIL would have to be addressed, also, to get Satan's second illegitimate child under control.
Hate to say this, but there are a number of programs that simply need to go the route of the Ivies: no bowls, no participation in title chases, ten games a year, and that's it.
