Tailgate generator question
Aug 10, 2014, 12:16 AM
|
|
I don't know much about generators but was thinking about getting one for the tailgate this year. It needs to run a couple crock pots and a tv for a few hours. What do I need to look for, or what works best? Any advice is appreciated.
TIA

So is it safe to say that a honda inverter is the best way to go? That seems to be the common opinion? If so, how big would you go (seeing how you never really know what you will need to plug in), if it was you? And keeping price in mind.
Thanks again

I've had a Honda 2000 watt generator for 5 years.

Quiet, reliable, starts on 1st pull. That's more than enough capacity to handle 2 crock pots and a tv.

Honda EU2000i and you are done. Your tailgate neighbors will thank you for not choking them to death with one of those cheap harbor freight 2 stroke POS generators.
The Honda 2000 watt inverter is absolutely the best. Some like the Yamaha but you'll see more Hondas.

Honda 2000. Runs dish, TV, radio, and rope light for tent. Expect 7-8 hours of power. It's been wonderful investment.

I went through the same dilemma, ended up with the Honda. I'm glad it worked out for you but after I saw a couple of frustrated guys fail to get one of those to fire up fresh out of the box, I was glad I had that Honda.

Small, enough power for what you need and 40% cheaper than Honda.

DEEP CYCLE battery and a inverter. Will run satellite, phone chargers, led rope lights, all day! No noise, no fumes, no gasoline. I have two generators (inverter type) and carry my battery setup. WAY easier.

Costco has a generator that is similar for less than half the price, but I don't know anyone who has one...
